Simply roll up a pve character, do all of the quests (or get run if you're lazy), do every quest that unlocks skills, and buy the rest. Any elites you need you can unlock via faction, if it's too much of a hassle to cap regularly. I can make a fully developed character in less than a week or average play, with all needed runes, skills, etc that your typical build use, via mainly pve and perhaps a couple runs of gvg. It's actually somewhat sad - the majority of skills in any particular profession are usually never used which makes creating a character with the most common skills laughably easy. |

As for the article, it is again NOT a required fee. It is an option. One that I don't mind at all. I want to point out that, for PvP characters, having more slots means nothing. You are able to quickly and painlessly remake PvP characters to no end, and letting players make 20 characters if they want means nothing. You can play a warrior one match, an Ele the next, an assassin next.... all you have to do is delete your character and remake it between each match. This is a bonus that appeals to PvE players, who are more likely to say "I want to play an Assassin, but I already used all six slots for other classes". |

i could care less about paying $50 every six months or paying $10 for additional character slots. I'm sure Anet will provided additional character slots with each new profession just to keep it fair and if we want, we can purchase extras for $9.99. I am saving time and mony by buying an additional character slot for $9.99 since that account will be UAX rather than starting over from the beginning. Also you would need to buy a copy of prophecies and factions to have the benefits of both. Therefore the extra slots for $9.99 is beneficial for everyone unless you are broke and have no job but can somehow cover the cost of a $400 video card and complain about it paynig for an additional slot.
Kudos to Anet for giving us many options. |

Looking at that article again, it seems like the author fails to understand that Arena net gives you two free slots just for buying the expansion (which happens to be the number of slots you need for an Assassin and a Ritualist).

I can make a site like that too:
"Hi, I'm an ex-employee of ANet and I'm here to tell you that Gaile said that you all smell!" blah blah blah There's no face on the articles. The author needs a face. |

Meh....no big (IMO). I was playing Phantasy Star Online at $7/mo and my wife plays World of Warcraft (as well as GW) for $13/mo. If you look at it, the GW method allows you to keep playing or choose to upgrade. It's not necessary to upgrade to keep playing your current version, so if you REALLY like factions, stay with it. If you want to get new content (besides the updates), then buy it. GW is still free after license purchase, so who really cares. I just figure ANet needed to do it at some point.
Besides, I only have 3 canthan necro elites left to cap before I have all necro skills (both cantha & tyria). I'm ready for new ground to arcane hunt on. |

Anet legal: So what if we change our minds and want to start charging a fee? Anet boffin: We won't Anet legal: What if we do? Anet boffin: We won't Anet legal: We'll just pop a little clause in the EULA anyway - cos otherwise I'd be out of a job! (hhhhmmm, what about earthquakes, flood, fire? Hey - a job for life) Legal types always cover all the angles - no matter how irrelevant. ... or of course it could be that they plan to introduce a fee EDIT: I've only just read the article, and it does seem the author has some grievance with Anet. Apparently it was written by 'Gaile' The Doppleganger? Last edited by burai; Jun 07, 2006 at 04:20 PM // 16:20.. |

Hasn't this argument being running since GW was released over a year ago?
I agree totally with xenoranger, It's quite simple, if a monthly fee comes in, quit playing or pay to play, but untill then if it ever does happen (possibly the worst move for the game ever, as 75%+ of players would probably stop playing, so I seriously doubt it wouldn't happen) keep playing and enjoy the game, because I'm rather sure that there will never be a subscription fee. Regarding the character slots and additional chapters, is anyone FORCING you to buy them? It's new content, buy if you want and buy to explore some new land, more weapons and more things to do, and the new slots were perfectly optional, as stated on the GW website, it's for those who want MORE character slots, not 'get it or die!!' I sure will be continuing to buy additional chapters and continue to support arenanet, obviously they need to pay for their servers, and I believe I heard that the expansions would be partially used to pay the fees for those servers. Besides, I'd prefer to be paying fees for Expansions with whole new continents rather than each month for the occasional dungeon (Free Sorrows Furnace anyone?) in a patch I need to spend a load of time to download (I'm hinting at WoW here) Last edited by RinkXing; Jun 07, 2006 at 04:28 PM // 16:28.. |

the biggest selling point of the game is buy it and play it no monthly fee.
i am supporting Anet by buying chapters (and will continue) to get chapters as i have had much fun from it. monthly fee? i will leave instantly (with regret) |
