Furious isn't that great but it's definitely better than sundering.

Zealous or vamp should be your only mods for fighting. If you feel like it, you can toss a sundering or a furious on a switch weapon, just make sure you never attack with that worthless piece of..er.. junk.

Shocking adds armor penetration against almost every enemy other than rangers. Many foes have specific elemental weaknesses as well.

Shocking adds armor penetration if you look at armour in the wrong way.
People say that warriors have a basic armour level of 100. Using a shocking weapon on them will result in the shocking having "20% armour penetration" That's a way to "look" at it but it will get confusing for the newbs among us. It is better to say that elemental weapons ignore the +20al vs physical armour. But that will get confusing too because light damage, which isn't elemental, isn't physical damage either. So this too will get confusing for the newbs among us. So the best way to say it is that there are several types of damage and only one type of armour Warriors have 80al base Rangers/assassins have 70 al base Casters have 60al base Now if a warrior only had the 80 al, then all 3-4 types of damage would do the same amount of damage. Shocking, earth, water, piercing, slashing, dark, light, chaos, blunt,... All would do the same amount of damage. However. Many armoursets have an extra +10 to +xx armour against a certain type of damage. All warrior sets have +10 or +20 vs physical. THat means that if you use a physical weapon, you will be hitting 80+20 = 100al An elemental or light weapon won't do physical damage. That means that it will simply ignore the +20 vs physical. Your weapon will hit the basic al of 80. So the better way to formulate (is that even a word?) is by saying: Shocking will ignore the added defense vs physical damage on armours that have such an added defense. I should get paid for this |

Also to add... if you fight a warrior wearing the 100 armor -20 if strength is below 13, then no matter what you do... it would be the same.
My choice of damage mod. Vampiric > elemental > furious > sundering > everything else. Zealous will depend on my build completely. |

Sunder is also kind aawesome if you get to hit those 20% in a spike (I call it perfect spike) which is rare but sometimes valuable. :>

Sundering isnt worth it IMO. It still needs to be buffed. Look at some skills/spells like Lightning Orb. It has armor penetration built in at 25%. If this was true with the sundering mod on weapons, then it might be more useful.
For my warrior I have 4 swords. A zealous, a vampiric, an elemental, and a furious. the furious one i rarely use, but there are a few adrenal builds that i run in which i have found it useful. So to answer your question, i guess i would have to say furious if you had to choose only between the two, otherwise id go with a zealous weapon with a vampiric weap on switch |

+15% all the time would make Sundering worth seriously looking at I think, as it stands; it's garbage.

Sundering as it is now is the equivalent of +8% damage constantly. Not really worth it.

Why do ppl love vamp mods so much ???
Sure they give you health, but there are lots of ways to add health to yourself, I use my vamp bow in Tombs, but I never use vamp axes or swords, have always used zealous, sundering, and furious. thx... p.s. nice write-up Don Zardeone on the armor stuff. |

The extra 3 damage from a vampiric sword or axe is higher than the average % bonus damage from a 20/20 sundering mod.
It's not there to gain health. It's there to hurt the other guy more. |

Have to agree on the Vamp option. Think of it this way
Max Sword does 15-22 damage Add +15% damage for health over 50% (most popular mod) That will ad an additional 2-3 pts of damage Add a 3/1 Vamp Mod to the sword That will add an additional 3 damage per attack (health stealing) Customize the weapon for 20% That adds 3-4 pts of damage So at the end you are doing 23 - 32 total. The sundering mods I dont think are as effective especially since they are only a 20% chance of actually working per attack. The Vamp Mod is not a percentage, when you successfully hit your target you will always do 3 more damage. However you do have to carry multiple weapons when you are not in battle so you can switch off to avoid the health degen. |
