Best overall monk armor or armor combination? (Prophecies Only)
Hey, so I finally got my monk to Droks (yay!) so I was planning on getting him some 15k armor. Thing is though, I don't know what the best choices are for each piece. So my question is what combination or set of armor would be best for my monk?

I still prefer the +energy for my monk, you can never have enough.
The armor at Droknar's Forge is 1.5k, not 15k. The stats are the same but the looks are different. |

For PvE I'd say go with the + energy armor.
For PvP(works fine in PvE too) I'd go with Judges(+10 al vs physical). |

It's kind of different since you're in the Prophecies chapter and you can't select stats for visual types like in Factions, but what I like to do for all my casters is take the +5 Energy from the chest and leg portions of the armor then take the armor bonus in the hands and foot portions as you only get a minimal amount of energy for those pieces while armor bonuses are universal for all portions (The value, not the area damage taken)
So basically, instead of +7 energy with full Ascetic's, I recommend Ascetic's for chest/leg for +5 energy and Judge's for +20 armor v. physical. Last edited by Mtank325; Jun 14, 2006 at 10:41 PM // 22:41.. |

Those armor bonuses are neither global nor cumulative. With that armor setup if you get hit in the chest the AL is 60. If you get hit in the foot for physical damage it is AL 70 and AL 60 vs any other damage type.
You're almost working backward compared to what others do, in that the higher armor is often placed on the chest and legs since statistically more attacks land there. |

Well this comes down to how do you play your monk? If you ran a newbie monk through and haven't played him a lot, then you will just have to play a bit and find out what works best. Spend the money on a droknars setup and see if the stats work for you. Alternatively you can get a limited armour selection outside of sanctum cay for much cheaper and only lose 3AR off of the drok's setup.
I mostly use ascetics. I just find the extra energy helpful. Some people like the extra AR from the judges and have a build that manages energy so they don't worry about the energy ascetics provides. |
