Salvaging weapon mods
I need a bit of help understanding the best way to salvage weapon mods. The only successful salvages Ive had so far are when I get the little pop telling me Ive unlocked XYZ. I did a mini-chest run as part of my map clearing exercise up Lorners, and got a couple of cool purple items which had some cool mods on. I tried salvaging one.. but it turned to iron ingots
Can any item be salvaged for the mods? or is it only specific items? and is it simply luck of the draw as to what you salvage? |

If I remember correctly there is always a chance of only getting materials, even with superior salvaging tools. Just keep trying. You will get all the mods.

It's hit and miss. I've had ZERO luck when it comes to salvaging weapons...to the point that I don't anymore. If there was more than one mod, I'd get the crappy one...at best. For example, Shocking bow of Fortitude, at best I'd get the shocking bow string. Most of the time, I get splinters. Before you comment, I don't even own a "normal" slavage kit, just expert and superior. Just something to think about before you salvage.

yeah.. i prefer the superiors too.. better value for money.. and i find i often get more materials out too.. it seems kinda sucky that for higher end weapons the chance of getting the mods out is so slim

unbelievable..
i still have to get a failed salage, and i'm playing about 3 months now, only using superior salvages.. 2K for expert is rediculous Although with prefix and suffix weapons, i usually get the prefix mod.. like the shocking bow of fortitude story.. I think the probability of getting suffix mod's is lower than prefixes. but that's just my opinion. Grtz, TriXor |

I've had the same kind of luck as above. Anymore, I don't salvage the mods. At best, I'd get the worse one, which would sell for about...10 g. If you really want a mod, I'd check the prices on forums or Lion's Arch.

There's no guarantee that you'd get a mod with a expert or superior salvage kit. Sometimes I get a bunch of crafting materials, rare crafting materials, the mod I don't want, and other times I actually get the mod I want.
If I recall correctly, expert and superior salvage kits are the same for salvaging. You just pay more to save inventory space with a superior kit. |
