Where to start a 55 monk?
This may be a stupid question, but searching is messed up again lol.
Should I start my 55 monk in tyria or cantha? Looking forward to everyone's valuable input. EDIT: I haven't created my monk yet, so which is the best homeland? lol sry bout that Last edited by Almighty Grace; Jul 03, 2006 at 09:12 PM // 21:12.. |

LOL Ariana.
I started my 55 monk before Factions came out. I rushed to LA to get the Ascetics's armor. I suggest you get the +1 Smiting head armor. Bought the runes, already had the -50 grim cesta. I started as a level 6, but by the time I started farming the minotaurs outside Ice Tooth Cave, I had just turned 7. You can start that early, if you plan what pieces of armor to wear, and what weapons as you level up. Remember the -50 grim cesta is needed for the 55 hps when you are level 20, but when you are lower level, you have a variation of things to keep your hps low. I usually kept mine in the teens and was prepared with an alternative weapon set for when I gained a level during battle. As you level up, you can start adding runes to your armor. I think I moved to the minotaurs in Elona Reach at about level 12 or 13. You just have to have high enough attribute points to be able to damage them in a reasonable amount of time. Of course, you will need to be run there. If you start in Factions, the +energy armor is available right away, but you have to do the storyline quests to really get anywhere. I'm not sure of too many good 55 farming spots in Factions, but I assume they are after Kaineng, in which case it doesn't matter where your 55 monk was born. So, you can "probably" level up in less time with a 55 monk in Prophecies, but I think in either case, for the quickest advance, you will need to be run. |

Chapter 1 all the way.
Especially if you want a free -50 cesta, as it is only avialable to Tyrian born characters as a quest reward. If born in Cantha you have to pay for it. |

Where do you start one is by beating the game and playing in groups to keep ppl Alive. Then there is getting all your skills you need and capping all your elites as well as getting all your 200 attributes. Then you can think if you still want to be one it is not easy and no glamour in it.

If you already have characters born in prophecies that can get the -55 health item, then I would make the monk in factions. It is faster to get droks equivalant (even though armor doesnt really matter with 55, but i would buy it anyway...) and it is way faster to level up for me. Plus after 4 misisons, you can go to LA. If the monk is born in tyria, then u have to do 7 missions (i think) to get to LA.

If you already have the -50hp cesta or are just planing on buying one definatly make your monk in Cantha it not about the quicker leveling up but the 15 attribute points quests. In Cantha there right at the begining and are easy to do, in Tyria you have to slog through ascension to do one off them in the southern shiverpeaks and for the other you have to hench it around the desert. Much easier to make a Monk for healing (no warrior secondary), get to lvl 16 then head over to tyria and rush through the assention then switch secondarys to warrior.

Oh, and a spiritbond/protective spirit monk with the lowest level armor you can find is cheaper and more forgiving to play. Last edited by Numa Pompilius; Jul 04, 2006 at 08:15 AM // 08:15.. |

agreed as per above...
but chap1 is better to create a 55hp mo imo... and ch 1 is better for farmin with 55hp mo too, as in faction, 99% of the mobs are balanced with ench strippers... |
