OK I think ANET nerfed UW
everytime i agro the aaxte, a nightmare pops out of no where, is that normal?

What they DID nerf in the UW was Chest Drops (Chest Drops got almost a global nerf recently anyway).
Last 4 Phantom Chests opened were purple, back in the day it was WEIRD and UNCOMMON to even a purple.... |

I haven't noticed any more Dying Nightmares recently. All I can suggest is that you increase Dvine Favour and cast SB before aggroing so that you are safer from interrupts and have a longer Spell Breaker duration.
One thing I have noticed is that Phantom Keys don't drop anymore. I used to see about one drop per run (on average) and since the rare items were imrpoved these keys are nowhere to be seen. Also the phantom chests drop Phantasmal Armour now. The gold : purple ratio seems to be the same in Phantom Chests as it always was. Last edited by makosi; Jul 06, 2006 at 12:35 PM // 12:35.. |

yep..i got that phantasmal armor yesterday from chest and i was like wtf is this?...think they improved rare drops in UW..but lower ecto even more...

I had the same thought, in the aaxte chamber I had 6 nightmare spawns, whereas it used to be 3-4. I don't know if this is only happening to me, but my guildies had had more nightmare spawns the last week too. |

They added those months ago but I think they've actually taken some out now. I do spider runs and could tell if I needed to scout ahead to kill nightmares for my monk. We stopped for a while to play factions and when we started up again, about a month ago, it was strange to see so few nightmares. I kept running around trigger happy looking for them but they were gone. The best thing to do is run it a few times and learn the patterns. Spell Breaker isn't needed unless there are more than 2 nightmares in a group(which is very very rare). If you are running a 2 man team, the necro should be killing most all of them. If there are 2 in the same group, the necro can kill one and the monk can kill one.

I go on atleast 2-3 runs per night, and I haven't any higher number of Nightmares - atleast not in a pattern that really threatens to hurt your run.
Again, like my previous post, The chests there have really started sucking. True the normal drops and chest drops have gotten alittle skin improvement.....but at the cost of almost never getting a gold. (My partner yesterday even commented at the end of a smite run about half his inventory was blue and purple Eternal Shields and Ghostly Staves). |
