Please help me im confused choosing 2nd profession for assassin
Hello people 1st of all ty for reading my post. I just started a assassin, i had asked to lots of people "What is the best 2nd prof for the assassin?" and i had 3 differents answers. Ranger, Warrior and Monk.
Monk.- because you can heal yourself and other ppl. Ranger.- because you have a pet, you can use poison, and evade skills. Warrior.- because of you can use something like "armor signet" (i dont remember the name exactly, plus evade skills. I had good results using Ranger/Assassin using Escape and throw dirt but i dont know if its the same using Assassin/Ranger. what do you think is the best? Thank you all for the help. |

again, different people will tell you different things...
personally i chose a/r, as i would be able to harnass the critical strike primary of assassin and barrage of ranger to make a critical barrager. with a zealous string, i can go on barraging 24/7 without worrying enegy too much AoD is the heart of assassin. and many assassin pro's will tell you strike where it is least expected... problem is AoD comes much later in game... before getting AoD, an assassin can also be a trapasin, using evading skills such as whirlwind defence or shadow form (e) lay trap, deal damage using combos, then get out at least 4 seconds before shadow form ends... Also an interesting combo i discovered recently while running in desert is: shadow of haste, death charge, dash (or any stance) as when shadow of haste ends (or replaced by other stance) you teleport back to where you started the skill, it achieves something like an AoD (pretty stupid i know, occupying 3 skill slots, but that's all you can have before you get an AoD)... |

ravs, the warrior signet would be doylak's and I feel sorry for your assassin if you use it. If you need more armor, go mesmer secondary and use the stances in the inspiration line.
In reality though, pick whatever secondary you feel like, and remember that Senji's corner where you can change secondaries isn't that far into the game |

What both of the above have said is correct.
I havn't touched my Sin in a while, so I'm rusty as heck with skills. But, from what I can remember and from what I can remember others saying, just think "mobility" when you're tweaking your build. |

Sorry- read it wrong... *smacks head*
Here are some pros and cons to the classes you mentioned: A warrior as secondary isnt that helpful- you can't get the good armor, you can't put points in strength, and you can't use many of the combat skills due to wielding daggers. Yeah, your adrenaline will charge fast, but you wont have much of a use for it. If you do choose warroir as secondary, you would probably want to limit the skills to tactics- even there, be careful what you use as some stances end when you use skills. Ranger as a secondary is nice, but please don't pick it because of a pet- would you really want to waste a skill slot and put needed attribute points in beast mastery? The ability to poison is really nice for sins because if/when they have to run, they continue to do damage. The best choice if you do choose ranger secondary is to put points in wilderness survival- it has traps, evasive skills, poison, and if I remember right, some nice spirits. This would be useful for doing lots of damage, but lacks the ability to heal, which could quickly become a huge problem. Monk secondary is helpful for almost any class. If you do pick it, it will make the monk's job easier and you won't die as often if you become the focus of the aggro. Even though healing sounds nice, think about it- you stop attacking, use a healing spell and use needed magic, and then promptly lose any health you gained from the continued attacks. I recommend that if you take monk as a secondary, use the protection prayers. This will help you last a lot longer, avoid damage, and reduce recieved damage. I would pick monk due to the increased survivability. Something else you might want to think about is a necro as secondary- if you use blood magic, you can do damage and heal. Go pure assassin. Best way to not make mistakes. Doesn't turn you into a tank, doesn't make you feel invincible. If you're more experienced, then you can try doing other stuff.

Assassin Primary = Critical Strikes. Warrior Secondary = Adrenaline and weapon skills. Right now I'm going with axe. I crit and get energy (andhealth with the right skills). I can put slots into Tactics for the warrior stances or Shadow for some very cool assassin tricks. Ignore Dagger Mastery once you take warrior and instead put those points into another weapon of choice. Skipping daggers also opens up Shields as an option, which will boost armor and provide other effects. Can't wear the heavy armor but assassins do get a few very nice evade skills and immunity to knockdown and immunity to extra crit damage. In short (as opposed to that thing above that I wrote), it's a very viable combo. |

I have monk as my secondary because I really want to be a pure assassin. I don't want to try and mesh other professions skills into the build. I only use one monk skill and that's vigorous spirit. I cast it before battle so it isn't slowing down my damage and plus it helps keep my health up so I don't have to listen to monks whine about healing an assassin. Most whine before they even play with you, assuming you don't know how to play the assassin. |

Deacon- good point. As a sin, you want to use your primary skills- theyre unique and many are pretty good. Also, I am guilty of assuming that most people dont know how to use sins... Then again, I haven't come across one yet and I really want to so I can start to work on my assassin...
