To travel from Cantha to Tyria, you have to get "Chaos in Kryta" from a guard in Kaineng City, that is, IF you have both versions. You need a CD key of Prophecies to travel to Tyria.

you have to have both games, AND they must be linked together. Owning both cd's does not necessarily mean the accounts are linked. As you said, you got prophecies from a friend and he had already been playing it, this means the key has been used. Your only options if you want your factions characters to have access to prophecies skills (or visa versa) is to buy a NEW copy of the game and link it to your existing, ie buy a copy of Prophecies and link it to your factions account, or buy a copy of factions and link it to the prophecies account, or both.

Prophecies only skills are only up for purchase in Tyria, just like Factions skills are only available in cantha. It's only the 'core' skills that show up in both areas (this is true even if you have both campaigns merged). So if you have successfully merged your two accounts, and you want to buy those skill you first have to make your way to Lion's Arch. I don't remember where you get that particular quest, but it's either in Keineng or Marketplace, maybe even inside of Bejunkan pier, I just don't remember so look around.
Also note, that in Prophecies, all skills are not up for purchase throughout Tyria, unless you have already unlocked them using your Balthazar points. The only place where you can buy every Prophecies skill, even if it hasn't been unlocked, is in Ember Light Camp, which is in the Ring of Fire area. |
