Which war armor provides best protection?
I am trying to use the best physical armor protection for my tank, but I can't decide which is best. I can't figure out the armor formula from wiki because it's all just mumbo jumbo that I can't understand so please help me out.
It's between Knights or Legionnaire armor. I am not going to switch and swap. I am going to wear ALL pieces. (Excluding sup absoprtion rune I'm going to put in) Knights gives 100 al against physical along with 3 dmg reduction. Legionnaire gives you 110 al while in stance!!! (I will always be in stance) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- So it all comes down to which provides greater protection: 10 armor or 3 dmg reduction? |

None, everything is situational.

no..... I am giving you 2 sets that are the best against physical attacks.
These two beat out all the other armor types (glads, Sentinel) in al against physical. I am asking which provides better protection: 100 w/ 3 dmg reduction or 110 armor? This is not situational, this is raw armor level. Last edited by Lye; Jul 14, 2006 at 08:50 PM // 20:50.. |

No matter what you think it is situational. You will not always be in a stance as there are factors out of your control, like wild blow, energy denial, whatever. Another situational effect is the damage being dealt, which makes a difference on the protection from the armors.
At AL 100 you take 50% of the damage from an attack and at 110 you take 42%, all other factors being equal. If an attack would hit you for 50 you would take 25 with AL 100, less 3 from absorption for 22. That same hit would do 21 with AL 110. If it were 100 damage you would take 50-3=47 (AL 100) or 42 (AL 110). |

tyvm. This is for farming one particular set of mob so I don't have to worry about wild blow or any energy denials. It is all physical.
I just need someone to configure the math to me to which I can understand. |

What mob exactly are you trying to farm? What build are you using? How finely tuned is your sense of style? You'd need to know all that to make an educated decision.
