Ingame Roleplaying
Now I like Guild Wars and I also like Roleplaying. Now my question is. How does ingame roleplaying work?

Your best bet would be in team chat, as you will face insane harrassment and flooded chat if you attempted it in "all" chat.

Especially if you role-play as a girl.
"Hey, I'm Jessie, and I'm an elementalist with lots of firepower!" "DO U HV BOOBS" "Uh, yes! Because I'm Jessie, the fire nuker!" "WUTS UR MSN" "This is a game -_-" "WUTS UR MSN" Yeah, roleplaying in 'all' chat. Sounds fun. |

Now that's not to say you can't try, and perhaps have a good time trying. I'm sure there are guilds that place an emphasis on keeping game chat "in character" and that celebrate the story aspects of Guild Wars. You might find one if you ask in one of the big cities in-game, or by posting in the "Looking for a guild" thread on the Guilds Discussion forum here. Bring enough like-minded people around you and anything is possible. It's just a bit of an uphill battle in Guild Wars, compared to some other MMOs where there are even entire servers for players who want to emphasize role-playing. |

Honestly, I've had no problem at all role-playing in this game. Generally the first thing I do is forget ALL of the / commands and emote with * instead. Conciderably more flexability that way.
And if someone complains about it? Understand that they're probably not very good at it or have never done IRC role playing. |

To role play in GW:
Start when you load up GW. That is all. The people on the other side don't know you. Make them think you are a fierce warrior! |

Don't be a cheeseball.
Walk up to someone, sit down, and start a conversation - you know; whatever, but don't do this: Quote:

"xD" "o.o" etc. It makes you look like a "dork" to the point where people will cringe and feel embarassed for you, and that is why people make fun of "roleplayers". You don't need to be overdramatic or obnoxious to the point of corniness to show that you're roleplaying. And remember, just because you're roleplaying, and maybe capitalizing and punctuating properly doesn't make you any smarter or better than people who aren't at that moment, although many roleplayers seem to give off such a vibe. How does it work? It doesn't. 99% of the game is just load it up then
- "lfg <whatever>" - "lfp <whatever>" - chatting with friends/guild/others as normal e.g. like on MSN/chat room/irc/whatever - "lol!" - run around and kill things. - trade spam - pvp The role that you play in GW is basically: you control a collection of skills and items, which just happen to be on a 3D character model, which just happens to be fantasy themed. Sure there's a main PvE story, but it's kinda weak compared to many other more dedicated games and is largely irrelevent once you've seen it once. Best bet is either look for a specific group of people willing to rp, or find a game which provides a better environment for it for example NWN has rp servers.
