Mountain Troll Tusk question
Ok so i've done a search and come up with nothing that answers my question...WHAT is the big deal with people wanting these in mass quantities?
Are they just running to the godforsaken collectors to turn them in for items to sell to merchants? Someone online (who shall remain nameless), told me that they wanted them to get armor for their factions character, yet wouldn't say how. Is there something to do with them besides the 2 collectors way out in the boonies? Thanks Imaginos |

Merchant pays 8g per tusk. Collector takes 5 tusks = 40g merchant rate. Collector item sells for 125g = 85g profit if you collect tusks. Each tusk can be looked at as a 25g worth item for the collector drop. Someone paying 15g or even 20g will still gain a bit of profit over just someone merchanting them, but they'd need to invest the time to get to two very irritatingly located collectors. Was curious if that armor thing that the guy ingame told me about was real. Imaginos |

Normally they sell for 8 gold a piece at the merchant, if you take them to the collector they turn into 25 gold a piece. Because the collector gives you items worth 125 gold for 5 of them, and if you have alot, you can walk away with 4-5k sometimes, maybe more if you have more inventory space.

The thing is, it's just sad that people are lying and saying that it's needed for Factins armor. Yes and I understand that nobody would sell the tusks if they knew this, but come on... Going through that much trouble for such a small amount of cash?

I figure if I'm farming trolls ANYWAY, I run up a stack of 250 in no time at all. Buying more just pads a nice profit...
...don't let anybody fool you about their value though. It's fixed at 25g per tusk for them, and a "fair" price imo is 15-17g per tusk |

Yeah they all seem to trade the in for colectors items and then they sell to merch.
I personally cba to run off to a collector every time I have 250 tusks so I just sell them to those who do. I asked almost all of them about what they do with the tusks, the answers are usually these: "A guildy wants them" "I need bones for my armour, lots of bones, tusks makes bones" "I like collecting them" "I'm building my own mountain troll tusk castle" ... Haven't heard the factions armour one yet. |

Well I just talked to someone about the factions armor thing and they say that you can rare salvage ivory out of them for factions armor. No idea if that is true or if factions has to come out first to get faction based salvages.

250 tusks / 5 tusks for each collector = 50 collector item x 125 = 6250k Thats 4250k profit which is not bad if you ask me. There is no point in buying them since its so easy to farm them anyway. |

It was profitable, but now that everyone wants the tusks it takes too long to acquire them to make it worthwhile: you'd be better off farming rather than standing in Drok's spamming.

i always save up my tusks from farming runs, and when i have enough, i just run to the collectors in snakedance and get the items, the run only takes 5 minutes max and you get a nice amount of gold for that, so def worth it buying them however is a waste of time :P

i still believe that the troll tusks are not just used for the collectors and merching them....someone also told me about factions armor and "ivory" item, so since the gold amount given for them right now is pennies for me....i will hold on to them untill factions comes out and see what the hoopla is all about. i have like over 400+ in inventory, and i dont want to merch them if they make some thing better, which i believe they do
Some guy wanted to charge me 10k to tell me the secret and others bs me about the merchant trick....but i suspect troll tusk conspiracy afoul. |

They're not needed for Factions armor, or anything like that (unless it's truly for Bones for 15k armor). It's the same principle as people who would buy stacks of wood for 10-12g each, then go craft Rolls of Parchment, then sell those for 90-100g each to make a considerable profit (This was several months ago). If you have the time to invest, I suppose it's a way of profiting. Not worth the trouble in my opinion.

a firewand with 20/20 .... put an insightfull staff head and an staff wrapping of enchanting 20% on it et voila Ragos Flame Staff |

Strangely enough the price seems to be gradually rising too. Two weeks ago they were regular buyers asking to buy at 16g each, yesterday I was seeing buyers asking to buy at 20g each.

Thread necromancy at its finest.
People have been buying tusks for anywhere from 10 to 20 gold each for months now. It just depends how much profit the buyer wants to make. |
