Overstimulated and Lost.
Well, I'm in the real part of the game, and the map is huge!
I have no idea what the heck I'm doing too. Is there any suggestions on what I might want to start doing? I mean, I'm kind of lost and overstimulated because the game feels like it just went 180 degrees into the other direction. |

I'm guessing you just went through the Searing and ended up in Old Ascalon/Ascalon City
The basic guideline is to find any NPCs with green exclamation marks (!) above their heads. These give quests which advance you through the storyline or give you new skills. Skill quests are very important to pick up because A) they broaden your choices in terms of what skills you can bring, and B) you'll have to come back or pay gold and skill points if you want to get those skills later on. You can check which quests you have active by opening up your quest log (default key L). The quests marked as Primary advance you through the storyline and lead you to missions. Don't worry if you can't find one of these right away. Some quests aren't even offered until you trigger them by doing an unrelated activity, so you should check back in the towns you've already passed to see if new quests have opened up because you completed old ones. There are several NPCs in Ascalon City who won't offer quests for you until you complete a mission or do unrelated quests. If you used to adventure solo before the Searing, invite some henchmen into your party before leaving town. Old Ascalon is harder than pre-Searing, the enemies are higher level, and you can't always find people who are doing the same quest (or series of quests) as you are. You'll get less XP and drops with henchies, but you'll be able to survive much longer. Lastly, if you have a more specific question, don't hesitate to search these forums or the guildwiki.org database for the information. You can always ask another one here, but searching for the answer helps eliminate duplicate requests that make some people react in less than friendly ways |

Some good advice here. Just wanted to add, don't be too intimidated by the size of the map. The game doesn't use anywhere near all the available area shown. But that's not to say it's a small world either.
Also, when you have the map open, with a quest selected, it will show a green star on the map showing you were to head towards. You can go through your quest log, select quests, check the map, and repeat, to find which quests are closest to your current position, and plan which ones to do first. |

Thanks! I got a few quests under my belt, and started exploring more. I did the first 2 missions and someone was helping me out. And suddenly, those exclamation points started popping up all over the place. Weird how I only found 1 at the very beginning. Anyhoo, I think I'm on the right path anyway.
I found a purple staff I'm using, which is kind of nice. And I'm in a guild. And I'm level 10. So I think I'm doing okay now Thanks!!! |

If you whisper to me, tell me that you're the guy on GWG that was being overwhelmed by the size and lack of direction. That way I know who you are. |
