just plain horrible
if u cant organize special event w/e million bugs that will haunt us after the event's end why cant they just stop organizing all that uber-buggy pointless events... shortly after we got our pets wiped and quite a few accounts banned and massive err007-058 event we're getting another 1.... double drops for evr1 in special missions - oh wait we forget to add double drops.... ok now u can get ur double drops if u'll manage to connect again and play long enough to actually finish the mis w/o 3/4 of the team getting err007 i'd rather play as usual... |

ack still down.... I honestly think ANET should organise better beta-testing before thse updates. This is getting out of hand now and fast becoming a bad reputation.
Maybe cordon of a few servers just for specified beta tester to check out the update before letting us all suffer again and again. |

I guess it's too much to ask for them to post a status update on their website.

HAHA yeah I did the exact same thing before checking GWO and here to see if anyone else was having the same problem. Glad to know I'm not the only one that did all of that. |

I pretty much agree. I DO like the fact that they go through the trouble to organize these things and stuff...but c'mon. EVERY time there is an event or large update, some kind of bug(s) is/are introduced. Then when they fix those bugs, NEW ones are introduced. "Double Rare Drops in the Elite Missions"...ok great, AWESOME!...oh wait....there was a bug with that...preventing it from working correctly. Ok...so they fix it...COOL!...oh WAIT...now most of us can't even get into the game! GG...really... Last edited by Stolen Souls; Aug 05, 2006 at 02:37 AM // 02:37.. |

I am going to explain what's going on in a very simple analogy
Think of a plastic sandwich bag as Anet's GW servers. Each time someone logs on, a bit more air is added into the bag. So, what do you think will happen when too many people log on? That's right, BOOM! The bag explodes and all the air is let out. Also, no more air can get in the bag because there's at least one big hole somewhere. So what this means is that when too many people log on, the servers make like a paper bag and overload, and then a WHOLE lot of people get kicked. Also, you can't log in because there's a big hole in the "bag." Anet fixes the problem by patching up the hole, and possibly making the bag bigger. They may also just buy a much bigger bag. However, it's not as easy as one might think. They have to diagnose exactly what caused the problem, be it too many people in one area and not enough districts, too many people on in general, or some other weird server issue. Once they've figured out the problem, they have to take appropriate measures. Resetting the server is one if the server overloaded, and this can take upwards of 45 minutes to an hour. Allocating more districts to a certain area may also be needed, but that takes a bit of programming to do. And in the worst case scenario, if it was a different server issue, they have to figure out what's causing the problem and then do a whole bunch of different stuff depending on what it is. Now with all these people logging on GW for the Elite Weekend, there's probably more than Anet's servers could handle. So now they need to reset the overloaded servers and bring in some emergency bandwidth to handle the problem. By the way, I got kicked too and have been out for a while. |
