Okay this happened to me 2 times...Keyloggers aren't only in executable files or files at any extent...They can be in websites or your email. This guy in my alliance tried to buy gold (illegal in game world) and he was like I have been waiting for it for like 5 hours...I asked for the site...There was errors(usually means a scammers site) so about 30 minutes later he recieved an email (blank) and he opened it...he logged off for the night and when he came back on about 30 mintues later because he kept getting worried he got kicked off and everything was changed...He got his account back, and come to believe his dads credit card was wiped...
Anyways, email Anet and give them one of your access keys, they will ask you to fax it or mail it to them...Get a good anti-virus, scan your pc, get a new email..and your all set. |

Damn, ascalon Chariot were you hacked 2 times?
Did you get your account back? And yes harmfull programs are everywhere its only after I installed all these security measures that I realized how immense and constant the threat from the internet is. Every site that you visit, every mail that you open, anything you download or execute can potentially harbor malicious code. So from now on its antivirus,firewall,spyware/trojan detectors installed all the time. Cause I think but im not 100% sure that it was a trojan banker that got my information. And I already mailed arenanet but havnt got a reply back, but im gonna send a new mail today. I also got this site from someone https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 there you can test for vulnerabilities in your system. They also have a password site that generates a 64 digit long high quality random passes. Last edited by sir wan; Jul 26, 2006 at 07:55 AM // 07:55.. |

Dude, I know it was bad and all, but don't freak out! You do NOT need a 64 digit password. LOL If you're going to make passwords that are insanely long, you'll only end up hurting yourself more. Reason being is that you won't be able to remember it yourself, thus you will write it down. Big no no. I don't care what you think, there is no 100% safe place to store a password. And Mr. Murphy and James Earl Jones guarantee, "If you write it, they will find it." Also having passwords this long will temp you to use fewer passwords for different things so you will be able to remember them. And you already know that's bad. At most you need 8 digits mixed with 3-4 numbers. If someone is targeting you for cracking and they can make it through that, having it longer isn't going to stop them, it'll simply take a bit more time, piss them off, and make sure that they really mess things up once they're in. The longer it is the better to be honest.
It wil take them months to crack such a long pass. And you have to change your pasword every now and then anyway. But it does not has to be 64 digit but it must be a hard pasword with random digits upper and lower cases and numbers. |

Congrats! Glad you got your account back. Seems like quite a few people have gotten their accounts hacked into lately.
