Default How do "reduces <condition> duration by %" mods work?

I've seen weapons with mods such as "Reduces Deep Wound duration by 20%" and "Reduces Dazed duration by 20%" and so on, and I was wondering:

If I am using a regular weapon and I get Deep Wound on me, and then I switch to a weapon that reduces Deep Wound duration by 20%, will Deep Wound go away 20% faster, or am I screwed because I didn't have the "Reduces Deep Wound" weapon equipped when Deep Wound was put on me?

I haven't really been able to tell so far, usually I'm too busy trying not to get killed by monsters when these conditions happen

The second option, you need to have the bonus when the condition strikes. If you use Serpents Quickness halfway through a skill recharge, the recharging doesnt suddenly speed up, same goes for this.

I'd say that's right, most things that happen must occur when the recharge/condition/whatever is applied. You could compare it with a weapon that gives you 20% more enchantment time. It has to be equipped when you cast the enchantment.

Hey thanks, that's a good way to explain it

Helps with several other stupid questions I was wondering that were along the same line. Now that you point it out, it's like "duh, my reduces skill recharge staff only works when I hold it while I cast the spell, why didn't I put 2 and 2 together!" so thankfully I understand more of the increases/reduces mechanics now.

to be honest reduces ______ duration by 20% is a pants mod when you could have something like HCT of __ 20% and HSR of __ 20%. However Reduces Blind Duration by 20" on shields is handy, one of Tanzits Defenders uses is at the start of the Deep, the Ripper Caprs use Temple strike, hard to get many hits off when your almost constantly blind.
