Salvage/ID Wait
There's something thats been bugging me for a long time now: why do we always have to wait 15 or so seconds after our last attack before we can ID or salvage items? I can't see any reason for making us wait the extra time, and attacking (not being attacked or casting offensive spells) is the only things that afects the wait. What is the rationale behind this?
EDIT: Loviatar, are you saying you never get the "You have fought too recently to do that message?" Last edited by Darth Marth; Sep 01, 2006 at 10:30 PM // 22:30.. |

it is something on your end as i kill a mob and grab and salvage on the spot and ID anything interesting. no wait ever even salvage in middle of attack if inventory is full |

Probably so impatient people are not IDing or salvaging mid battle and causing their team to die? Guess they figure you should finish fighting first and the coast should be clear before you start playing in your inventory.

I get the same, I think it's to be more realistic, I mean, if that was real, you wouldn't sit and use tools on something right in the middle of a fight

Heh, I run out of battle, wait it out, then id/salvage, so I'm letting my team down even more. |

I agree, you wouldn't want someone who just got a gold sword (or whatever) drop to be playing with inventory in the middle of a fight, would you?
Hmmm, actually for some that might be an improvement in performance! |

Because it's really hard to use your ID and/or Salvage kits when your hands are busy using your bow, axe, staff, whatever. Think about it, first you have to open up your bag, dig through it to find the kit you want, then pull out whatever item it is you want to ID/Salvage. Not only that, it's very dangerous to use these kits because the chemicals used are not safe to use when lightning or fire is in the area - they may EXPLODE!!!!
That's why they won't let you use them during battle. The delay AFTER the battle is to make you take the time to clean up your weapon - gotta get all the blood, guts and other things cleaned off or it may cause rust. Then you still gotta open your bags & etc. etc. |

Quite posibly the amount of time it takes you to pick up the goodies the large mob dropped .. you have been out of combat long enough for the message to not apply.
I don't think its 15 seconds, 10 maybe. |

i nuke them so maybe it doesnt trip on simple casters. i have picked up and ID a piece while the remains of the mob are still attacking. possibly a weapon is needed as you suggest |

I get that on all my characters. It's quite annoying. I play mostly casters, too.

The reason behind it is so that if you want to change/equip something from your inventory mid-battle, you won't do the mistake of salvaging it instead. It would suck if instead of equiping a different 15k armor piece or some tweaked out gold weapon, you salvaged it instead. Though it takes a double click to activate, I've seen it happen while out-of-battle, imagine all the rants if it could happen mid-battle.

BTW, whoever said it's only from wanding or using a weapon is correct.... it doesn't activate the message if you are ONLY using spells. have to do the default attack for it delay your ID/salvage.
