Light dmg vs Fire dmg.
I use the Stormray and wanted to know if light damage is better than fire damage. The stats for the Stormray are below:
* Light damage: 11-22 (Requires 9 Divine Favor) * Halves casting time of Healing Prayers spells (Chance: 20%) * Energy + 5 (while Health is above 50%) |

Also, according to the wiki, light damage does extra damage to undead and necros wearing tormentors or necrotic armor. Generally, light damage is better because no skills or equipment give a bonus against it. Enemies that are weak against fire are the single exception, although depending on HOW weak they are, light might still be a better option. (I don't know the math)

light/dark/chaos damage is the best type of damage UNLESS the creature has a weakness to one of the elements - as mentioned above that's because there are nothing that protects against those kinds of damage.

Chaos, Dark, and light damage ARE affected by armor. However, there is no armor and currently no skills that increase armor against these damage type (not specifically, anyway- Dolyaks, as I understand it, increases overall Armor Level) they therefore act like all other normal damage types, but there's no specific counters for them. Elemental damage is affected by armor, and there are also armors and skills that give specific +armor bonuses against elemental damage, including the subclasses of elemental damage. Ranger armor, for example, gives +armor vs. one specific element, while Dryder's Defense gives +armor vs. elemental damage. Physical (slash, pierce, crush) damage has all of the sdrawbacks of elemental (specific +armor skills and equipment) and is ALSO reduced by the warrior's Runes of absorption, Knights armor, and shiels with physical damage reduction. Hope that helps a bit. |
