PlayNC "Master account"? - Guild Wars Forums

Prompted by another thread, I just went into GW to look at how I could go about chaning or resetting my password.

To my surprise, rather than doing these things in-game (or resetting the pw view the e-mail address which is my account name - an accountname which had to be an e-mail address) I am prompted to sign in on PlayNC.

So I go through, create a PlayNC account (with a different account name, as one matching-ish my Guild Wars sign in is already gone), yada yada, and go to see about this hypothetical password reset.

Now it seems I have to create a THIRD account using my GW key, picking yet ANOTHER account name (this time to be appended by @plaync) and password. I don't have my key on me, but this is starting to seem like a crazy set of things to have to do.

I know this is probably old news, but... how did such a convoluted system come into place? And, were I to create said third account, would whatever I was trying to do actually work?

OK, I feel like a prize idiot.
turns out I already had a plaync account, yadayada, automatically linked to my GW account when I went to the Store, yadayada.
Kinda glad no-one posted in this thread yet.

Lock / delete / please let me die? I'm being good and not just editing this out completely.

FINAL edit, honest. Hoping for some good to come out of this.

Is there any way to reset my GW account away from PlayNC so I can't use the store, but all my management happens in client? Chances are I'm not going to buy any other PlayNC game, and if I buy another GW chapter it'll be in a box, and for a lot less than £30.
