is there a good time to GvG? I've noticed if my guilds plan to GvG at obscure/late times we tend to get matched up with some, almost to high level players :3

So is there a "good" time to GvG or is it just bad luck?

Best time to GVG is when you have 8 players ready and willing to go, in my opinion.

But I'm not sure where you're coming from here, so I'll put a few assumptions/situations and hope that one covers what you're looking for.

There is always the possibility of an unbalanced matchup, but usually losing to a good team is more rewarding than winning to a bad team, if you're looking for experience, notwithstanding smears by top guilds. The lack of matches altogether is a big problem and usually occurs during non-primetime hours (late night/early morning PST-ish, although with its nearly-worldwide distribution, it's hard to gague a general primetime)

If you're going for rank, I don't think timing matters because ultimately you're going to have to take on the big guys if you attain a desirable standing. Inflating rank by beating a lot of lower rank teams will eventually balance itself out by crushing defeats when you do eventually take on a team at your rank (after you've climbed the ladder).

Ideally playing during the "primetime" hours should get you a lot of matchups with guilds your level, but even then there's a large amount of chance to it. I think it's best to focus on getting a time going in which your members can regularly make matches, so you can get used to the flow of running with those people and can improve via self-improvement rather than ladder improvement.

It's no fun losing in 2 minutes or less, but I think the value of consistency outweighs the potential value of opportune timing, especially when it's very difficult to gauge that opportune time.
