thinking about playing, have a ? though.
hi all,
im thinking about buying the game, but the more i read the more it seems that the game can only really be played in groups or parties. I dont always have time to find groups or go on 10 hour long quests. Is it possible to solo through the game? or is this game not really for someone who can only play maybe an hour a night? thnx |

It's possible to solo yeah...
The addition fo (although not that good and you'll swear on 'em) henchies you don't have to get in touch with real peeps whatso ever. It does become easier though should you team up with real people. Better use of skills etc. and no silly AI bugging up or messing up the mission/quest Nightfall will have heroes to match that. your own personal henchies with all skills currently unlocked on your account avail to them for use. |

First off, there are several other threads addressing these questions. I'll go ahead and try answer them tho.
There is a lot you can do on your own with henchies. After pre-sear in chapter 1 you are able and should have more then just yourself. How ever, there are npc's that you can use. I've played a lot with henchies and some will tell you that you can do everything with them. If you are in a guild tho, you can get a lot of help that way. There are no 10 hour long quests or missions. Mission length varies. In GWP, some of the missions can last up to an hour. In GWF, most are done in under 30 minutes. I just wonder why you would want to play alone tho. I have met some great people in this game and yes, there have been jerks too. For the most part, the people have been great. Maybe you should just stick to single player games. No one that I know of plays GW to be alone. It is a social game. |

as mentioned by the above post, there are some great people and some jerk ones, but some tend to find more of the latter. with henchies, you dont have to wait 2 hours while forming a PUG (pick up group), PuGs usually preffer some cookie cutter builds, and also usually will wait until 2 human monks are in the party (wich can take quite a while) and as soon as the second monk is in, most of the times, they will hit enter the mission without asking the second monk if he is ready, not to mention that there are high chances of people dropping for no apparent reason, by not doing the bonus objective, or if the group is not a master reward group. henchies on the other side, while they may have a buggy AI, they are far more reliable (at least for me) once you learn how to use them, i played through most of prophecies with henchies only and finished Factions with 7 different chars with henchies only (subsequently helping guildies + henchies to finish the game as well) and once nightfall comes out, there are going to be "flags" to better control henchies, and henchies dont go AFK or leave half way a mission. this game can be for you, if you feel like being social and party with others you can do so, if you just want to play the game while not waiting for long, there will always be henchies. pst, henchies dont care if you are an assasin, mesmer, water ele, smiting monk... |

Getting in a good, casual PvE guild will help also as there will be a pool of people available to team up with. Even if it is you and another player it makes things much better.

10 Hour what ??? No - none of that. Except for the 2 elite missions in Cantha, I can't think of a single quest or mission that takes much over an hour, and there are only a couple of those. Most missions take about a half hour. As for finding people to play with, I never need to spend more than 10 minutes to find a group. Sometimes, there just aren't many people in a location that I need, but in that case, I just find something else to do and come back at a more populated time. You can easily play this game in an hour a night, but you may quickly find yourself spending more than that...
