How many rubies/sapphires do I get from trade contracts?
Im in love with the vabbian armor but Im not rich enough to go out buying rubies and sapphires left and right.
Does anyone know how many trade contracts/Rubies/Sapphires its possible to get from quests and whatnot before I have to buy them? Thanks in advance |

I believe I got 12 contracts (7 contracts per gem). There may be more vabbi quests.... somewhere but that's all I found.

With only 12 that means you'll be able to get 1 gem (RIP OFF) than have to buy more contracts or just visit your friend the Rare Material Trader. -_-"

I got 22 contacts now from various quests in Vabbi. Some quests only pop-up after you beat the game, too. And some quests can only be obtained in explorable areas. So you have to explore nearly every corner of Vabbi to get them all.
But really...22 contacts can't even get you one piece of armor. |

Heh, clearly saving a hundred of each wasn't enough
The 5k price of Vabbi is misleading - it's far from being a cheap set of armor. As someone put well in another thread, calling it 5k is like calling fissure 15k. But yes, you're going to have to buy/farm the rest, the quests are just to provide a little aid, I suppose. |

man am I glad I was buying these shortly after Factions was released. It was apparent that rubies/sapphs wouldn't be in that game and you could get them for about 2.5k at the rare mat trader after the prices dropped.

...Or, you could farm the Mirror of Lyss(sp?)zone outside Vabbi, and expert-salvage drops to get rubies and sapphires that way. See:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...2&postcount=14 No screenshot for this claim, but worth a look because: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10073124 I don't think it's a coincidence that you can reputedly expert salvage gems from drops around Vabbi, do you? |

Another work around is to take additional charactors through the Vabbi quests and have them pool their Trade Contracts.
Personally I dont think the Vabbi armor is worth it. Would much rather sell the gems on the open market or to the trader. |

I got my elemental vabbian set. Dropped almost 200k into it This armor set is a "prestigue" armor set so that there wont be tons of characters with it, which in turn makes it unique, much like FoW armor set. The vabbian armor set is not more or less functional then the base 60AL sets. It just looks nicer. Anyway, if you need gems, there are plenty of ways to get them. It just takes some time to do so. If you were really dedicated to getting this armor set, just save up for a couple weeks and you'd be set. Buy the gems as you can afford them as the price seems to be continually going up. I was lucky to get all mine for 5-6k each. Now they are almost 7k.
Take care all! |
