Riposte & Deadly Riposte
The skill [skill]Riposte[/skill] and the [skill]Deadly Riposte[/skill] Is very hard to counter using a warrior build, i have searched everwhere but nowhere has any answers.
I am talking about a 1 on 1 situation between a character with 2 riposte and the other does not, how do i counter it? I know [skill]Soothing Images[/skill] would counter Riposte but drains energy and is 1 less skill for offence while leaving deadly riposte still well... deadly. Please post some ideas, thx. Would [skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill] help? What suggested that doesnt work: Distracting blow (no casting time) Wild Blow (Not stance) Any defensive skills (ignors armor and can not be blocked) Last edited by beliserius; Jan 08, 2007 at 02:24 AM // 02:24.. |

it only affects melee attacks. if u can find a way to kd them, it would delay them. pure/ jahuzen(sp?) strike go through the riposites, but you will still take dmg. if all else fails, change your secondary to ranger and poison him with a bow.

maybe the real counter is to just use a normal attack. Riposte doesn't deal a lot of damage by itself, so you could just remove it with a regular attack then commence with the spike.

They're not exactly counterable, as far as i know. the damage will still be applied no matter what you do. you'll just have to take the damage and try to kill him before he can kill you. and considering that he's wasted two slots on these skills, you probably will be able to.

Personally? If i dont decide to just attack through them, and get them out the way...then I just wait the 8 seconds until they wear off....spend this time on self heals perhaps...or kiting.
Ok Deadly Riposte recharges fairly quickly.....but also costs 5 energy...which depending on the stage in battle, isnt always available to your opponent Warrior. Meanwhile, if u have been kiting...say bye bye adrenaline & riposte. then again...its not that much dmg from Deadly riposte..so if its the bleeding you're worried about, then Plague Touch has always been a friend of mine. |

i thought i could take on my riposte using friend but he kicked my sorry butt
but if i were you, id bring SV and AV, they cant raise adreneline and they lose energy, only issue would be your energy management but give it a try make sure you have enough illusion magic |

get a wand or bow...back off(kite) but continue to attack from range thus still dealing damage and building energy/adren depending on weapon mods etc

You could always go ritualist secondary and spam [skill]Vengeful Weapon[/skill] and [skill]Weapon of Remedy[/skill].
That way, everytime one of the Ripostes goes off, it'll end up hurting the enemy warrior instead and Weapon of Remedy will take care of the bleeding for you. |

And about the "still taking a lot of damage while using riposte". Considering it was you vs a melee opponent, you should always time your ripostes so that they probably block attack skills instead of just attacks, it's just a bigger benefit. |

It would be a lot of weapon swapping (and maybe not very efficient) but you can take an extra weapon set with a wand or spear, then when they use riposte use that on them, because then you won't take any damage, and I'm pretty sure that that'll remove the riposte. After removing riposte you simply switch back to your main weapon and keep hacking away until they use riposte again. This will be pretty slow against somebody who has both ripostes, but it would work.
Some of the ripostes are bound to get to you before you wand them off, but it should help with a lot of the damage. Last edited by blakecraw; Jan 08, 2007 at 08:59 PM // 20:59.. |

Both Riposte and Deadly Riposte trigger on melee attacks. They do expire if not triggered though.
Remember that while you're dinking around with a wand the enemy warrior is still attacking you with his sword, including whatever elite skills he has. |
