What is AreaNet.log
A few weeks ago i noticed a new file between the standart gw files.
It was called AreaNet.log, so i opened it for a look inside (notepad rules ). The file did contain a lot of hex codes and other memory stuff, but some things clearly indicated that this was a log (although i don't know when this log is updated) A few examples are: (2) Client pathing data out of sync with server. You may observe your character 'warping' during movement. (which can be related to rubberbanding) (2) Gadget lacks launch animation (2) Texture '' file not found (2) Sequence queue congestion So my question is: Why do i have this file? and why has anet indicated the 'warping' thing in a log file? ================================================== ========================== If anyone is interested i can upload the quite long logfile (anti forum code i guess ) somewhere ================================================== ========================== |

Very interesting, I found that file as well. I didn't look all the way through, (like I'm gonna search through 10 zillion lines of coding that I have no idea what it means) however I did notice it mentions a bunch of instances of "Crash" with some comp information (like my processor model and video card specs/drivers). I even found a line that said:
*--> LogQueue <--* (0) Prop tag 0000 not found (map=41) (0) Prop tag 0000 not found (map=41) (2) Corpse of Thorn Devourer: No animation for (2) Corpse of Thorn Devourer: No animation for I didn't find anything that you had though, exiled mat. I would like to know more about this too if anyone knows anything about it. |

It displays information regarding client crashes. You can delete it, but it will appear again when your client crashes again. I'm guessing when you submit an error report to Anet after you crash, it also sends the text from that text file.
This is purely speculation. |

Yeah, you had GW crash on you? When it does and you get that "report crash to ANet" box pop-up, that file is the info that gets sent to ANet. It's nothing to worry about and perfectly safe to delete.

hmmn.. okay
Thanks for the info/help everyone But it's very interesting to know that anet reports rubberbanding in a crash log And since gw only died on me once, when i have multiple crash reports.... yeah it's weird |
