Noob Question - Guild Wars Forums

I recently purchased GW Prophecies. A friend of mine bought Factions. Will we be able to hunt together or will I need to buy Factions for us to group. I'm new to GW and it's different from the other mmorpg's I've played. Thank you for your help.

You will need to buy Faction's or he will need to buy Prophecies, but you can still PvP together without buyign the other game.

You will be able to team up with your friend for PvP on the Battle Ilse but unfortunatly you will not be able to group up for PvE missions or quests (or anything on the continent you dont have access to. If you are both in the same guild you will both be able to meet each other in your guild hall and talk to each other through guild chat.
