The access key is printed on the back of a collectable game card (same size as a credit card). The key itself is under a silver scratch off panel (same as a scratch card). Scratch it off & you should see yor access key.

It's on a card (credit card size) and you scratch a strip off the back. If it's not there just be patient and take it back to the shop tomorrow, that's probably what anet will tell you to do anyway. I once got a Standard Key in a Collector's Edition box and the first thing they said was return it to where you bought it.

If you can't be arsed to used the ANet support system then take it back and exchange it. Just make sure to open the new one and check the key's there before you leave the store.

As for what it looks like, it's a plastic credit card stuck to a piece of paper. Pull it off and scratch the silver off the back of it to reveal your code.

For those telling him to take it back to the store, they won't accept it. Most gaming specific stores tell you that they will NOT take the game back IF the CD Key is missing/exposed.

Errr most gaming specific stores would/must if there is something wrong with the product. A faulty/missing cd-key counts as that, just need the receipt & all contents that was in the game case.

Dude chill, wait for an answer from Anet, if im not mistaken some other people have posted here before about this, wait for a response from Anet then continue.

If he was to bring it to the store and the store took it back they would just send it back to anet anyways, they dont lose anything.

Dont blame Anet for the missing key, yes it could be that they didnt put it in but it could also be that the store people borrowed it :P, i know that you feel irritated but these things can happen, you just seem the be unlucky to have it happend to you.

Depends where he is! Over here, if they refuse all you have to do is mention 'Statutory Rights' and they take it back straight away.

If you look at most game stores, they say "Opened games cannot be returned". Then underneath that in small print it also states "This does not affect your Statutory Rights"

They might exchange the game for another copy of the same game though, if something is missing or faulty. Might be tricky though since it's regarding a missing CD key.

Why can't A-Net put the CD keys on the INSIDE cover of the manual? If they wanted to, it could be affixed like a decal or sticker, and just as easy to conceal (for cd key protection).

You raise holy Hades with the store manager. They are required to exchange it if they sold you a faulty game, which they did as its missing the game key.

Yeah, you do what I did when I had to return BF2 to GAME because the actual manual was missing. The code is printed on the back of the manual.

After numerous time refusing to replace the game the twerp behind the counter called the manager over who stated "why should we replace it, you've taken it out and kept it for yourself haven't you?" To which I replied in a rather loud voice "Oh, are you calling me a thief in front of all these people? If so that's slander, would you like me to take this any further than necessary?"

Five minutes later I walked out with a brand new copy of BF2.

Generally, stores have to give you a new game if what they sold you had something missing or damaged. I've done it several times here (Denmark) without any trouble, anywhere from a missing manual or key to actual missing discs. The reason some storekeepers might be grumpy is that they get a fair amount of people who purchase a game, steal the CD key, discs or various bonus material such as mousepads, and then return the game asking for a new one (or sometimes even a different product).

It probably isn't Anet's fault. The game creators do not sit and manually fill every game box, it's done in some factory somewhere and, as with anything, mistakes happen. You were unlucky and you're not really getting anywhere with asking "how could they sell me a game with something missing?" - this is similar to when you buy a soda where the bottle cap is loose, or when the pants you bought have a fault in the seams. Millions of products can't be made without the occasional error and you have the luxury of being able to demand a refund or new product. Do so tomorrow, you shouldn't have any problems.

Most of the times I have bought the game thje code was in a sealed piece of paper that was folded over. To open it you had to tear off 3 sides then unflod the paper and the codes were in there. Only a few that I bought were on the jewel case insert (the original Profecies campaign was like that). Check your box again to make sure that yopu haven't overlooked the small piece of paper. It is about 2" squareand it will say access codes on it. I live in the US so this may not pertain to other countries.

Yeah, the plastic card seems to be an overseas (outside US) thing.

think the card might have been a CE feature.. possibly! I have nothing to add to this topic but good luck getting it sorted, some people have managed to sort it out according to the forums.. ideally though you should have taken it back the same day and not left until they sorted it out, they would prob say no at first to test you because if you were lying you've got nothing to lose but everything to gain if your telling the truth.
