It's with a heavy heart that I must inform you that this site, Guild Wars Guru, will be shutting down on July 1st and will remain in Archive Mode. Over the past 11 years, we've become, and continued to remain, the #1 fansite for Guild Wars, and it's all because to you guys. Without such a strong and passionate community, Guru would have never made it this far and so we thank you for that.
And while we will be saying good-bye to our home here, we will continue to host forums for the GW community over at our sister site, Guild Wars 2 Guru. In fact, you are more than welcome to head on over now and begin posting. If you have any threads you'd like to transfer over, now would be the time.
So once again thank you, and especially those that contributed their time and knowledge to make Guru the amazing place it was. We'll see you over at Guild Wars 2 Guru!
hi, i've downloaded the archive from the site and i ran the gwsetup.exe file, i've set a path for it and now it's on a Downloading.... status screen. i must add that there is no download happening or at least it doesn't appear to be as those 2 screens that represent the lan connection are turning on rarely. is this normal? i also did a search for any file that contains guild wars and couldn't find a thing. maybe it shows up when it's done(if it's done) ?
No, I do not think your client is downloading. A download bar should pop up that is a darker grey than the background. Im on Dial-up and it started downloading almost instantly.
it somehow ended downloading and the program wrote nothing on my system (it may have something to do with the fact that i didnt set the install directory to be c:/program files, but another partition). i pressed gwsetup.exe again and this time i left the default directory and went to bed and now its all nice and ready weeeeeeeeeeeeee

Partitions shouldn't have anything to do with it, I've currently got mine running out of G:\Games\Guild Wars.... but I'd be more than willing to bet that it hung up on a network request to the server. If it happens in the future (or for other people viewing), try running it again, if that doesn't work.. redownload the client and try it again, if that doesn't work... then check to see if you have the correct ports open on your firewall/router.
