Secondary profession for Dervish?
What is a good secondary profession for a Dervish? I've heard that most people just use dervish skills and so the secondary doesn't really matter. But I'd like to hear everyone's opinions because I just made one and would like to know which direction to go. Thanks

Warrior is good for the skill Wild Blow. It doesn't require any attributes and guarantees a critical which is high damage with a Scythe. It also let's you remove whirling defense from Rangers which is quite annoying.
I agree with the sentiment that you will usually go with all Dervish skills. I have all the secondaries unlocked on my Dervish and usually use Warrior for Wild Blow or no secondary skills. |

IMHO, Monk secondary. Since a lot of the Dervish's strength is derived from casting enchantments, keeping enchantments, and ending enchantments, monk has some pretty handy enchantments to add to your skillset. Obviously, since this IS Guild Wars after all, you can always switch your secondary later if you end up not liking it.

Ritualist ftw.
1. Reusable Res. 2. Weapon Spells. (non-strippable unlike your enchantments...you can use things like Guided Weapon and Vital Weapon) Of course you can't do that when you're starting out. When I started out I went D/Mo...then changed to D/Rt as fast as I could. |

D/Mo is nice for the reasons stated. D/W is nice for the reasons stated. D/E is nice for flame dijnn's haste and a few others (lot of enchantments and PBAoE spells that combo well with dervishes).

Warrior for Wild Blow
Monk for Protective Spirit, Guardian etc. (not that good, sorry to inform u...Deemos-and i should hope u never go mending derv...thats the last thing we need) Ritualist (mentioned above) increase damage...flaw: they arent enchants, which doesnt give u the energy increase. Elementalist for those armor increase enchantments. Earth and water armor spells are good to increase ur armor so u can tank more damage, and they are enchants for good e-management. Mesmer has those great stances like physical resistance and elemental resistance for when u really wanna tank damage I have also seen Derv/Ranger who bring pets, which i think is an alright idea. This splits the damage u take into 2...and since ur pet runs faster than u, it will run in first, tanking more damage than u do. As you can tell, a huge goal is to increase the dervs lower armor (because of low AL and no shield). But a Dervishes second proffession isnt that important. Dervishes have it all in one package. Enchants, armor buffs, damage buffs, condition buffs etc all in 1 character. These are just my thoughts, there are many other ideas out there (like D/N...ive seen it, but i dont know why) I personally use D/Me and D/W. And I am actually thinking of trying the D/R idea... My two cents, ~Silent |

I don't really even use a secondary for my Dervish. I find that the class has enough abilities of their own. Dervishes have a many damage skills and many self heals.

Yea, I chose monk as my secondary for now. So far I like it. But, I still use mostly all dervish skills. Dervish skills rock. Best profession I've played thus far. Thanks for all the tips guys.
