How hard is it to find a decent guild?
I come from playing an MMO called Dark Age of Camelot which is very PvP oriented and very guild oriented. I picked up GW just after release but was kind of turned away from it because of all the dancing people talking about chuck norris at that time.
I ended up reinstalling it and starting from scratch recently but I'm finding I'm missing the group aspect I liked from my old game. I'm thinking joining a guild with other mature and focused players is what I need but every time I end up joining a guild it ends up being a bunch of people who don't even know each other. Is there hope? |

It is never easy to find the right guild around,
as it all depends on, what you look for here and now and further ahead .. Which perspectives like PvE, farming, AB (alliance battles), PvP do you want? And once you see a guild recruiting, do you just want to accept without checking them out? It's not easy, really it isn't. I have gone solo for a long time, sologuild and all but was lucky enough to play with some really nice guys in another guild. Today we have a nice alliance and both they and I expand our guilds slowly. I'm personally hesistant to just accept new people, because I'd like to find some mindlike people, but if I never accept anyone new to this guild, how will I ever find the right people that enjoy the game and all it's aspects ? For some, it's just trial and error, for others, they hit the right guild on the first hit. /Santa IGN: tdk santa |

I'm with Santa, right now, we just took the best 10-15 people from 2 guilds, merged into a new one. We're a very tight-knit PvE group, who spend our days working on titles and new characters and spend our nights in the UW or FoW. We only handpick our people, we dont spam recruit either. A lot of the good players have been picked up by other guilds as well. Theres nothing wrong with picking up new players (noobs) as we all had to start somewhere. Right now in my guild of 15 or so, two of those are new players who the rest of us are teaching the ropes. How to buy low/sell high, how to farm depending on their favorite class, which team builds to use where (trappers and such for UW). Many of these 'noobs' will take very well to a guild that is offering to help and teach them, and thats how you get loyal members. As for my guild, once you're in, you're in, you instantly become one of the old 'OGs'. I think its just very hard to find a good guild these days...it seems like all you have to choose from is:
"NEW GUILD OMGZ-OUR GUILD TAG is [OWNZ] lawlz, FIRST 5 TO PM ME ARE OCCIFERRRRRRS" or "We're so leet it hurts us to even noob up these guys in AB...2143.3million faction...join us if you dont have a life" So, I feel bad for the new players coming into GW, because they're what keeps the game going. So yea, your best bet is to find an experienced guild, try your damnedest(sp?) to fit in, and stick with them. |

Look through previous guild of the weeks (as well as other guilds recruiting here). The ones who get guild of the week on the guildwars.com website are more likely to be stable and mature, but there are also other very nice guilds that just didn't bother applying for it.
