lol you really are joking?
GW2 will have a much more in-depth game engine. I seriously doubt if you will be able to have a pleasurable GW2 gaming experience on dial-up. |

Nope not joking seeing as 40% of the gw fanbase is dial up simply because of the reason gw 1 runs nicely on dial up.

It will probably run fairly smoothly as they'd be trying to keep bandwidth usage down, because ANet doesn't have monthly subscription fees to cover too much bandwidth.

I'm quite sure, that it won't run so smooth on an old dialup (since it will demand much more then GW1, that's my personal guess though).
I'm also quite suprised to read the numbers you gave 40% on dial up O.o can't be true or ? We must have like less then 1% on dialup here, you have to enter e-bay to get a hold of a dialupmodem. Why not use a 3G-connection if you can't get a normal broadband, most operators offers 3,6mb/3G connections with unlimited transfer for a flaterate that is very good. |

I seriously doubt it's 40%. Closer to 4% than 40%. How come you even still have dial-up? Most places have broadband now. I'm suprised people even play GW on dial-up. Dial-up is nasty for gaming.

As i said guildwars was made to run crisp smooth on dial up i dont even lag unless something like norton or other craps starts up and well for some reason our road gets loads of dial up and 1 broadband and the broadband cost to much etc and the 40% was estimated by anet awile back in a q and a thing. but none the less i asked in kamadan dis 1-5 seeing how many people were dial up and a good majority said they were.at any rate gw 1 plays very good on dial up 62 fps and only around 100 ping = very good.the broadband being offered out here cost 50$ and is direct way and get this every road seps our road is run by verizon ours is tds and well every other road seps ours can get 768 kbps dsl for 15.99 a month and the phone company says we cant get it? 768kbps i know would work for any game mostly and regards to getting dial up modems on ebay. they sell them loads in stores comp usa...etc walmart...not to hard.at any rate i just want something that runs 700kbps-1mb because thats good enough but weve been waiting for along time with no avail.
btw i live in new york, syracuse so lol |

So much for "Location:Secret XD" :P
But yeah.. I highly doubt it will run on dial-up. It's probably coming out in 2 years tho and I'm guessing dial-up will be extinct by then (in America) in today's market |

1. GW runs very well on dial-up due to the amount of data that is kept on the server instead of local pc. Things that happen on the server stay on the server.
2. Too early for information on dial-up with GW2. I imagine we will have to wait for the beta to find out how well it will work. @OP - don't feel bad, a friend lives near downtown Ft. Lauderdale and can't get broadband, only dial-up. She's too far from station for DSL and local cable broadband is very erractic. Cellular broadband is not possible due to too much interference from transformers on property line. |

Loading time=RAM usually.
I don't recommend 56k for PvP though. |

As pointed out, loading times=memory(other than the first time, when you're downloading it), frame rates=memory, CPU, graphics card.
Lag(like rubber-banding, delay in picking up stuff or activating skills) is due to your internet connection, and overall it should stay at similar levels to what you're having now. |

Sorry,
but 2-3 years ahead you worry now about what might happen ? This is still on a low level information state with only ideas presented so far and you worry that much now ? I would like to say, if you worry so much at this point, you won't make it go GW2 when that's out, as the closer we get, the more you worry. Seriously, do take it easy and wait until it's properly announced. Things might change gamewise and ISP wise so much in that timeframe that you waste your energy for nothing. /Santa |
