ok... When i first installed guild wars, shortly after my hard drive had a few problems and i had to revamp it. Months went by and i desided to dl it again remembering how fun it was and all.
So, i dled, no problems... then when i enter the game loggin screen i relized that it said "GuildWars NightFall" at the top even though i never bought it... i didn't think anything of it, so i made an account. My access key didn't work so i searched the web and found it on their site. Tried to make another account and it worked. Got to the character creating page and in a little red message it said, "Your account is currently unothorized, and if you wish to continue you must enter our store and purchase the proper product"
uh? it says at the top of my screen that i have guildwars nightfall? why must i purchase another one? and why do i have GuildWars NightFall when i didn't buy it or upgrade anything... all i have is the very first guildwars game and it worked perfectly fine before.... but now, i can't get anywhere.

The login screen has said Nightfall since it's release the end of Oct '06. It says that no matter which of the games you own.

First, make sure you are not trying to create a character from a chapter you don't own. If you entered an access key for the first Guild Wars (now called Prophecies), then you cannot create a ritualist, assassin, dervish or paragon.

If this is not the case, then gather together your proofs of ownership (access key, birth date, box contents, receipt, etc.) and contact support through plaync.com at http://www.plaync.com/us/support/doc_214.html?prod=48

If you had already installed GW once (before pc problems) then you should have already created an account using that access key. You cannot use the same access key on more than one account.

It says Nightfall at the top to reflect the latest campaign, not because you do or do not own Nightfall.
Your access key didn't work it's because it's already in use (from when you previously played). Unless it was a trial key in which case you can't play it anymore anyway.

The Guild Wars: Nightfall screen that you see is global. Meaning this is the login screen you get no matter what game you personally have access too. If you only had Prophecies (chapter 1) you would still see the same login screen as the other guy who only has Nightfall (chapter 3). So this does not affect your actual account status.

As far as not having access. You need to be more clear about what steps you took. From what i can tell, you have installed it to your PC through the DL'ed file from the official GW website? You say your access key did not work: was that key from your orginally purchased guild wars game (i.e. Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall)??

Most likely from what i understand in your post:: your old Access Key was probably simply entered incorrectly. The second Access Key you entered was most likely one of the "Buddy Keys", which is only temporary access to GW. They key you use will only be pertainable to the game chapter it coincides with (ch1,2 or 3). So when you tried to create character, you most likely clicked a chapter that you do not have access to. I might be way off base tho, lol.

With the account you created, try adding the CD KEY that you originally got with you Prophecies or Factions purchase. There should be the option to add a cd key on the login window (Manage accounts and cd keys). And try to add the key again, this time be sure the key is entered correctly.

If that doesnt work, then one other thought could be that your Access Key (CD KEY) is STILL connected to the original account you had created when you first played. If you cannot remember the login account name or password you will most likely have to contact NCSOFT support, tell them the exact situation and they should be able to resolve this issue for you.

hey, ty for the reply, i didn't relize that it said that cuz i haven't played for a long time. I understand why i can't use my access key again but how do i get another one?

find the original emails when you registered the account. that should give you your reg information. and/or help you log in because the logon is the email account you registered to.

You don't get a new access key. PlayNC will give you the login info for your original account after you prove that it is your account.
