Release date? hmm?
Ok well after searching through the forums, all I've heard was Eye of the North will definately come before GW2 (obviously), and that they are kind of "far away".
Looking back at the release dates and promises of anet, they were planning on releasing an expansion every 6 months. Infact, the numerical day remains the same for each campaign: April 28, 2005 (Prophecies) April 28, 2006 (Factions) October 28, 2006 (Nightfall) Therefore, my question would be, is Eye of the North going to be released in a month and 3 days (from the time I am posting this) [which would end up being April 28th], possibly along with Automated Tournaments? Or is this going to be another "We are stalling due to the fact that we are unable to inform the public of our progress because after all, we are like the CIA and if any information leaks, we kill you. Basically - we like keeping secrets which don't need to be secrets." :] |

ANet hasn't released an official date, all they've said were holidays 2007.

Eye of the North is scheduled for a "Holiday 2007" release, says the PC Gamer article.

My best guess is that it will be closer to October 28, because in the article it said released around the holidays.
EDIT: Wow, two people posted the same thing I did in the time it took me to read the post. |

Holiday = ???
Ok, Holiday 2007... THe closest holiday I can think of is easter weekend... April 8th. Or Mawlid, which should fall on March 31st this year. Does this mean I can expect EotN to be sitting in stores some time in the next three weeks? Probably not. But for the love of Pete, could they come up with something slightly more vague than "Holiday 2007"? Easter/Mawlid are likely out, but what about the school time "summer holidays", or "Thanksgiving Holiday", or do they mean "Christmas/Hanukkah/Winter Soltice/Kwanzaa/Id al-Adha/Winters Day"?
Is it asking too much that they give us a month, or maybe even a SEASON??? I mean Holiday... that could be pretty much any damn day of the year depending on who you ask! C'mon, A-net, pony up and gather up the guts to say something concrete. If you're so concerned about not being able to meet the mystery dead line, stack on 30 days to your estimate. I don't think anyone will complain if you end up releasing something earlier than expected. |

[SPECULATION] I don't think they'll release it on Oct 28 - that didn't work too well with factions being released at the same time the Halloween event was going on.
If they're aiming for the big holiday sales season, look for it a week or 2 before Thanksgiving. [/SPECULATION] |

*edit* actually, in the us, the fiscal year for the government begins on oct 1st running until the end of the year. but many companies use yearly quarters, but not all. but anet/NCSoft/whatever is korean based IIRC, so i dont know how they do it. When companies say "Holiday" the mean the Summer or Winter (X-mas) periods... not Easter.

I am 99% sure that it's the Christmas Season and not the Summer season because if GW:EN comes out in Summer, we should've already had our PvP and PvE previews. Plus as other people have already said, "Holidays" typically means the Christmas holiday season.

Why is this such a hard concept?
If I say, "Happy Holidays!", do you think of Easter, or Valentine's Day, or President's Day? No. Expect GW:EN sometime around the time you'll be hearing people say "Happy Holidays!". Expect GW2 about two months after we're all VERY SICK of hearing about it. ^_^ |

The sarcasm meter is off the charts.
Well at the rate people are all doom and gloom about GW2 which is over 2 years away, going nuts over GW:EN right now doesn't seem to far a stretch for the imagination... |

While "holidays" or "holiday season" usually mean Christmas time to a USA company, "Holiday 2007" could mean Memorial Day (last Monday in May), Fourth of July, or even Labor Day (first Monday in Sept.).
