GW:EN - Character Creation?
It is an expansion, and there are no new professions (as far as we know). So how do you think they will work this out?, will you be able to create characters specifically for GW:EN? And if so how will the ethnicity and other factors come in to play. What I'm especially curious about is whether or not they'll include the Dervish, Paragon, Ritualist, and Assassin in the character creation options. So what do you guys think?

From what little information we've gotten so far, GWEN is for lvl 20 characters. A way to expand and flesh out your already maxed out characters. No new professions, no new character creation, no low level stuff of any kind.

It's supposed to be all lvl20 content. No tutorial or newbie island. A new profession definately sounds out of the question.

As an expansion I really doubt that you will be creating a character gor EN, you will simply create a character for the campain that you own and then that character will be able to access EN.
Atleast that is how every other game that I've played that has an expansion works. That is why they require that you have a copy of the original game for it to work. |

As with the others above, I doubt there will be any character generation elements in the upcoming release. For example, if you only have one of the three existing chapters, you would use the character generation rules/methods that come with that chapter, and at some point in progression, you will come across a quest that will link that chapter to GW:EN. Kind of like how you initially crossed characters from one continent to another, but different.
When all is said and done, I'm actually looking forward to the new installment. It seems to me that it will be best characterized as a comforting epilogue to a decent effort at a well rounded trilogy. Something that will bring ultimate closure to hardworking, well travelled heroes like Countess and Draxanoth. Heck, even if I was obliged to die in the end... if it made for a good story I'd support it whole heartedly. (And as far as continuous play is concerned, perhaps one could continue to play as a ghost?) |

considering it is a expansion meaning you already have to own one of the games makes me think that no you will not be able to create a new character there. I think it will be a cool new place with new armor and various other cool things. Plus wasnt it said thats where GW2 will start or something?

I personnaly hope it is only lv 20 characters that are allowed access, however with that being said there is this little person inside who is screaming that she wants new hair and face designs. *sigh*. I'm guessing there is no way both could be possible so I'm sticking with the hope that only lv 20 characters are able to access GW:EN. What would be cool too would be if only characters that have completed a campaign could access it but I'm guessing that would be unlikely.

I wonder if two extra character slots will be provided like usual? Doubtful, since it is just an expansion and not a full campaign, but they'd still nice to have nonetheless.

You probably just need to have unlocked travel from your port city. (Completed enough NF quests, gotten to Kaineng from Shing Jae, gotten to LA.) They already said you "could" bring a sub-20 character there but it's a bad idea, so I would imagine this is how they are doing it.

I hope they give us at least 1 extra character slot with GW:EN. That way I could finally make that mesmer I've been meaning to create (ironic thing is that my first character could have been a mesmer instead of a necromancer).

It's an expansion, not a campaign. You can't make an Eye of the North character, you have to make it in one of the campaigns and then take it through the expansion.

Hence, GW:EN says, must have one of the previous campaigns. GW:EN is not a standalone.

It may not fit with the theme so maybe they should add it in an update prior to releasing the expansion pack. Or have a hairstylist unlocked after you buy the expansion. |

^It's not that they've "forgotten", they've said it's effectively impossible.
