There are a few myths about the farming code. according to anet a farming code DOES NOT EXIST. it is however an ANTI BOT CODE.
which if you have hints enabled it will pop up in a hint window. Quote: Originally Posted by Batou of Nine Wrong. I am sick of these silly rumors about farming nerfs and such. The ONLY thing that will affect a person's actual drop rate is that persons frequency of farming the same location/boss. If you do it too often and too frequent you will physically get a message about it. Each persons explorable/farmable zone is instanced, so they alone affect their drop rate. For the OP specifically, i can guarantee that the boss had dropped the green at LEAST once, likewise i can guarantee that one of your heroes got it, and since we don't get to see what henchies and heroes get from drops, you may never know... Honestly, if you want the best chances, assimilate a solo build or a 2 man build, go with a friend and farm him at MOST 20 times in a row. This might even trigger the code. At the end of that run do a mission, then come back and try again. Also, rather then zoning out when going for another run, type /resign instead, this somehow helps to delay the farming code. So, once again, the person ALONE is responsible for THEIR drop rates from areas... cheers! this is as close as the truth of what affects drops . |

Well, I don't understand it then. Because I've farmed the arse out of the UW this last week and last night I got three ectos from one run. Plus a gold the run before (even though it was a shite devine staff). What does the code affect? Every enemy drops something in a UW solo. Is the WHAT they drop? If so, again I can't see it. Ectos are the one thing people go to places like the UW for and I can near guarentee 10 a day with leasurely farming (going in about 5 times ish). Just a mention that I haven't done anything else this couple of weeks bar UW soloing so I've not "worked back" the code either.
If I'm this lucky, then I think I'll put the lottery on this week. |

I guess some people are luckier than others I suppose. During the free UW/FOW weekend I was farming UW somewhat "leasurely", clearing it say 5 or 6 times in one day. Not once did I ever get 3 ectos during one run, nevermind on the smites. On occasion I got 2 ectos. One time I even got a ruby. (Pointless anecdote, I know. ^^) Anyway there were times when I would clear the whole thing and not get even 1 ecto. Not that I'm complaining, as each run netted me with around 5k, which quickly builds up. I don't think I've activated the code either as there were many times when I would exit the game after a run and wouldn't return for a couple of hours or whatever. Hopefully the loot will be enough to buy the ectos I need for that precious armor I've been after for ages. All about luck. ^^ |

Now if you want to talk about the type of drops then your getting into a whole new ballgame. remember drops are way over random.
as an example. we'll say common stuff drops 75% time, purple types drop 20% , then rare stuff drops 5% from a single creature. plus or minus 3% depending on what activites you were currently doing. so if that char was just going in doing ataxxs then u could drop that chance for ecto down to 2% chance of dropping. Thats with the anti bot code kicked in. However no matter what anet has ever said there is an anti farm type of code. notice on my previous post i said according to anet there isnt one. however ur % for a rare will never drop below the 1% chance for any 1 creature. so u may have a long streak of luck and hitting that 1% chance for a drop or you could have a long run of not hitting it. hope that helps alittle. |

lol yea its always funny when someone like me that rarely farms anything at all, goes with a farming group and a mess of greens drop for me. lol Everyone says I must hack or something cause nearly every chest (with treasure hunter title on) is gold and majority my drops are really good.
Its just I don't go there often is all like they do... So when I do, My chances are better then the people that farm it all the time... Thats all.. 90% of the time I just drop it back on the ground for someone else to have, cause I do it more for something to do with friends then for the farming. lol And I am not a fan of the meta inflation game within GW.. So its not worth it to me to keep unless I have a character in need of something better. (RARE) I enjoy just dropping a Fleshweaver or a Razorstone for people when I get it, and they are all ARE YOU NUTS??? lol I'm like Naw, my customized Nightfall Collector weapons are better and I can mod them. so knock yourself out... and then they fight over whos gonna get em lol Its just funny to me is all. lol |

Anit-Farm code doesn't exsist. It's called the Anti-Bot code and starts to take effect when you begin to act like a bot IE repeat farming of the same area.
