Farming Trolls? Why?
So I created a ele/mes, because someone told me that there's a build on wiki that allows someone to solo farm trolls in a cave by droks in order to make money quickly. So i got to level 20, made it to droks, and tried out the build. It works great, and I can kill the trolls easily, but they dont drop anything special! All it is is white drops like tusks and hammers, and the occasional orange dye. Am I doing something wrong, or is their a trick? Why do so many people farm this way if it's nothing special?

kills trolls. collect the junk. merch the junk. repeat. do this for several days or weeks straight, non stop and the money adds up. just like vermin runs, troll runs are about cash over time, not rare drops. trolls runs where popular because they required very little skill, and could be done rather fast. and thats about it. |

I regularly get golds there, the troll tusks are worth 25g because you can give 5 of them to a collector and the item you get back sells for 125g. Keys also drop from these guys along with black dye. So it all adds up after a hand full of runs.

the tusks are the big money
also you can get alot of wood if you salvage the raven staffs. 1 run takes me about 1 minute and nets at least 1k. thats pretty quick. |

There is a collector north of rankor, He trades 5 troll tusks for a weapon. This weapon sells for 125g
The troll tusks sell for 7g each, As you can see you are making a huge profit by spending an extra 3 minutes. |

BTW krichter, go and read the farming section in this forum, there are others farming spots too. You can make a lot of gold with an Elementalist this days, but is not as easy as just farm some monsters and they will drops millions of gold, you need skill and patience. |

I don't farm trolls much nowadays, it does bring a steady flow of cash/exp but there are better ways. When i first started on them they used to drop plenty of keys and golds before they reduced the drop rate and chests were more common originally. I went back the other week and spent a couple of hours farming there for a change of scenery after getting all my chars through nf. I noticed the drop rate has improved again with keys and golds and think i even got a white die while i was there.
What i did notice while i was there is that theres a little trick to get around the aoe problem of them breaking off aggro. As you enter the cave turn right, theres a big boulder and a narrow passageway between that and the cave wall. If you pull the trolls there you can hold them and they are unable to run away, you may get the odd stray but not if you position yourself correctly. You can make a little money with the tusks although i've never bothered myself. If you take it over to nightfall and find a similarly easy spot there you will make alot more money with the collector items. In prophecies i think you will find all the high level collector items sell to the merchant for 125g. In nf you will find that the collector items have different values, something like 100-300g. If you check the collector lists for nf on wiki it will tell you what each is worth to merchant so you can go for the highest valued item/collector. Troll farming and the desert are good areas to start learning solo farming as they're pretty easy. As Ele/Mes theres a very good/quick build for solo smite runs in UW that is very popular atm which would probably be the next step for you but suggest you don't get tempted to go too soon, learn your build and skills and timing so they are second nature to you. By this time you should earn enough cash to cover your entry fees for all those deaths in training. |

Another reason why people could farm them: To experience the sound, which was made by our old friend Jungle troll miniature
I've farmed them in the SB age, although i wasn't so succesfull (at level 13, with only spitefull spirit :P) aw well, i've got my lvl 20 now, and now i can finally enjoy pve as a MM :P |

ele/mes- fire stuff + mist form the run to the cave is about 30-45 seconds(flame dijin's haste) aggro is like 10 seconds killing is around 6 seconds picking up the drops takes the most time @ the guy above me: I started soloing trolls at level 7 with a spirit bonder. not to rub it in your face or anything, but thats still one of the easiest farms iv ever done. If it did take 1 minute, you would be making 60k+ an hour, whereas the real number is around 5-10k. Of course, seeing a fraps of entire run (droks to droks, not just the cave) would help. Until then, the run takes 5-8 minutes minimum. |

eles kill the trolls in about 9 seconds lol and running with flame djinns takes about 30 seconds to get there and longer if u aggro avicara and eles can precast enchants mostly so gg + there ele troll farms on youtube that are only 3 min and they start from eterance to trolls to picking up items then /resigning

Thread necromancy FTL.
And even then, eles often take longer then 9 seconds to kill the trolls, no matter what you say. Getting under that due to lack of aggro scatter is often based on luck. |
