Alot of newb questions
Hi, im trying to get into GuildWars but its just overwheling to me, especially the pvp and I have some questions.
I have Prophicies and Nightfall, Im playing through the Nightfall Campaign with a W/Mo level 6 which I like, I need to get to level 12 for a quest, but its taking yonks lol, so what is a fast and fun way to level? What is the end game like? I know nothing about this, what is it like when you get to 20? The pvp is completely changed from when I played last year, its overwhelming and it confuses the hell out of me, is there an article or site or someone that can tell me what this is all about? Is a warrior monk a good choice to make? How do I get my Prophices character to Tyria? Can anyone explain the arour system in the game? Its not like WoW at all. Can anyone tell me what a good build for leveling my character is? Should I complete the Prophices campaign before Nightfall then use the same character to complete nightfall? Can I get my Nightfall character over to Prohpices, and how? I know this is alot of questions but im really trying to get into the game, and I would love if someone could help, thanks! |

After that, you can travel from one continent to another. First, the travel needs to be unlocked by completing a certain quest. The quests are not immediately available. For a prophecies character, you'll need to reach the city of Lion's arch. There, you will find the quest giver for the quest that will unlock travel to Elona. Note that you may need some human help, as the quest will have you facing some high lvl foes, and the Lion's arch henchmen are low level and of little use there. After the quest is complete, you will be taken to Kamadan. From then on, you will be able to travel between the continents simply by clicking the boat icon on the map screen and selecting the target continent. Note that some parts of each chapter are limited to native characters only (the tutorial areas and quests, and also some of the quests), so it usually pays to play through a campaign with a native character at least once. Also note that different armors work differently against different damage types. For example, a paragon and a warrior both have basic armor of 80. However, the warrior's armor will also always have an additional 20 armor against physical damage, allowing the warrior to survive melee much better than a paragon. Similarly, a ranger may have armor 70, but also gets a bonus of 30 to elemental damage (meaning that he will be tougher to usually ranged elemental damage than a warrior, but still significantly weaker against melee). You will soon find out that these things make a hell of a lot of a difference in the game. Characters with armor 60 have nothing to do in melee but die Quote:

Boy...that's a load of questions. Maybe a good place to start is Guildwiki...it's very informative for these kinds of questions. W/mo is a decent way to start to learn the game.

This helps you level up. See above sunspear rank address. IGN: Kelly the Great...usually on evenings PST if you have further questions. Guildwiki is incredibly helpful...check it out. Good luck and have fun! btw...Level 20 is the very beginning of where things will get really enjoyable for you. |

And clawofcrimson you can get a life, dont come to this forum if you dont want to help people, I asked stupid questions yes, but then I dont have alot of time to play the game. |

Anybody is more than welcome to add to my answers....but
First off....if you are unsure about something your best resources to start are: Guru Guild Wiki Both these sites have available information so that if you have any question that is unanswered or you want to read more into, check these places first. Now onto the anwers: Quote:

Factions = Cantha Nightfall = Elona If you have a Prophecies character.......it starts in Tyria. If you have a character from one campaign that you want to bring over from a different campaign (like a Nightfall character over to Prophecies)...then there are certain quests at a certain stage in the game that you can take to bring them over. If you do a search here in the Forums, you'll find countless threads asking about it. Quote:

re: Armor
You can get armor in two ways in GW: trade items with an NPC "collector"--they're all over, talk to collectors, collectors are your friends! --OR you can craft armor in particular towns. In WoW I believe, armor can drop for you that you can wear, or you can buy armor items at the auction house or whatever. The armor that you loot in GW, however, will NOT be wearable; instead, it may contain materials, runes and/or insignias which you could salvage in order to craft/improve your armor stats. Hope that's not too confusing. Collectors armor is basic, but free, and many times higher than anything you can craft in the area you're in. Crafted armor is more expensive, you must provide materials and money... in Elona, you must apply insignias for armor bonuses; in Prophecies and Factions, though, armor comes with inherent insignias. |
