Vanquisher and Death penalty
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Vanquisher
As it is stated in this page on GuildWiki, if your party reaches 60 DP, your team is "defeated" and can no longer get the vanquisher title from that area until you enter town to remove the DP. My question is: Is it just 1 member that cannot reach 60dp? or does the entire party have to be at 60 for the "defeat"? If the entire party has to be at 60, then could I use candy canes every time I get close to keep my Dp down? If the entire party gets to 60 dp, and I immediately use a candy cane to bring it down, does that nullify the "defeated" status? |

The whole party has to get to 60% DP.
Yes using canes and clovers will nullify it. Also if your region has favor you can kneel at the res shrine and "pay" off your DP. Also in hard mode most areas are 1 kill = 1% removed. |

60% DP goes for the entire party. And yes, you could use Candy Canes to decrease your DP to prevent an annihilation. The moment the last party member hits the floor and reaches 60% the party is wiped out. I'd suggest using Four Leaf Clovers as they not only remove the DP from you, but also from your fellow party members, including heroes.

And no, you won't be able to remove any DP once the entire party wipes with 60 DP, because you're dead. And you can't use Candycanes or Clovers when your dead.

It is certainly a good idea to carry some 15% candy canes, I must have used at least a dozen of them to "vanquish" The Mirror of Lyss - those bosses are hard! Try to make sure that you have less than 45% DP when you run into battle, and watch out for dying, being ressed, fighting for another 10 seconds or so, and dying again.
I'm not entirely sure what happens when only characters without a res are still alive and fighting, so that the countdown has started for the team to reappear on the nearest shrine... assuming they manage to stay alive throughout the countdown, even if everyone is on 60 DP you should live to continue the battle, I assume. |

Also, scrolls are a great item for Hard Mode. Added to the increased exp gain inherent with Hard Mode it makes for a great DP removal that can essentialy be puchased.

Also note that if you're going with heroes/henchies, and everyone with a rez dies (including you) to 60 DP, your party will get wiped back to town even if devona is still standing and killing off the last monster with 1/10 life left

yeah I clarified this earlier on with the OFFICIAL wiki.
Guildwiki is no good anymore, you get better, more detailed info on the other wiki, the one guildwars.com uses. |

Yeah, but guildwiki is three times larger.
I'm mainly contributing to the official one, however. |
