Looking for a Sparring Partner
From what I understand, this thread shouldn't be in violation of any guidelines (though if it is, I apologize profusely and with gusto).
Greets, I'm the guild leader of The Silly Nannies [GROG]. We're a guild of 9 people; all of us very close knit and hailing from a private forum. Anyway, we've all been playing the game for awhile together and dabble in both PvE and PvP. Lately, we've been looking to get into GvG which, besides Heroes Ascent, is the only form of PvP we haven't tried. We scrimmage a lot with friends of the guild to balance the teams, but we're really looking to get some solid GvG practice as a complete team instead of paired off against one another. So that's why I'm trying to find some equally matched guilds interested in unrated scrimmages to benefit both parties involved (or maybe an experienced guild to completely demolish us in under five minutes, so we can learn from our mistakes, either/or really). The 9 of us hail from a variety of time zones, so Friday and Saturday are our most active days to do glorious battle on. If anything, drop us a line and we'll party at our place. Also; we are NOT recruiting. Just thought I'd get that outta the way. Thanks in advance to anyone who even considers this proposal. I know who you are. It's cool, I don't blame you for passing on it. |

I'll try my mettle with you. As it stands, I lead a guild of 12 people, all newbies ^_^ I'm the only experienced player, although my alliance provides me constant challenge in PvP. I'd be happy to ask the leader to invite you into the alliance if your willing to scrimmage

Well, we don't need to join in an alliance and whatnot (we aren't looking for any commitments). All we need is to swap Guild names and set a time/place to throw down a practice match or two. We're all pretty casual players who have experience with PvP, but as you know GvG is a whole new realm of expertise, so I'm sure it'll be pretty evenly matched.
I'll confer with mah guildies as to what time would good for most of them. It'll probably have to be next weekend, what with most of us attending school/college/work. |

Alright cool, no alliance needed. But seriously, my members take confused to a new level... Anyways, I'll get 'em pumped up for a match against you guys, and I'll start trainging them. How many of your members do you think will be on?

Well, if there aren't enough people online in your own guild, and you still feel like gvg'ing, you could use the gwguru Puggvg service that has been made for the community... the sad part is, it's often the same people playing (So far I've started about 75% of the gvg's, and lots of faces keep coming back), so a little variety wouldn't hurt.

I'm thinking Friday or Saturday is when we can throw down. I imagined we might do a Best-of-Three, and the losing guild has to host a party at their place, as a show of good sportsmanship. Saphatorael; alright, thanks for the tip! I don't think we would have to look outside the guild for help, but if we have to, we've got a friend or two who visits the same forum as the rest of us but happens to be in another guild. |

Hi, I'm an officer in Njk. We are a bit larger than the other guilds that have posted, however we are JUST (literally) starting GvG. We have made a few builds and have tested them out in a few matches, some of which we won and lost. However we are very very new to this scene.
We wouldnt mind at all sparing with you. We are also very active in AB, while i know you're not asking for an alliance; we could appreciate another heavy AB guild in our Alliance. www.nojokehangout.com |

Crazyvietguy; sounds good! I'd like to face as wide a range of guilds as possible to learn from whatever experience they may have. I've been playing the longest in our guild - ever since the open Beta events, actually - and I'm the only one who's ever taken part in a Guild Battle, meaning that our collective experience is mostly in ABs.
Marcell; alright, I've managed to get a full team of 8 (all wearing [GROG] capes). The time we agreed upon is this Saturday at 4pm EST (-5 GMST). Mostly everyone said that they would be free ALL saturday, so if that's too late/early for you, then we don't mind changing it. The plan is still a Best-of-Three, with the loser hosting a post-game party at their Guild Hall. |

Well, last Saturday was a bust. The match was post-poned, so we're looking to make up for it this weekend. Our generally agreed upon time is Saturday at 4pm EST (-5 GMST). We can pull together a full team of 8 from our guild, though should someone not be able to make it, we might have to bring in a friend of the guild's (so we don't care if you use alliance members, pugs, etc).
I'd prefer if anyone who is interested respond here rather than whisper me in-game, as more often than not I'm usually busy. Here's to you all at Guru, and anyone who responds! *raises glass* |
