Question on Gold items
I was in LA today, and needed 10 more golds to get my seeker of wisdom title. I had just got my treasure hunter's title, and thought it would be cool to get them both on the same day. I saw some one advertising 7 Unid for 5k. When I looked at the items I saw that they were all gold unid Luxon garb, I bought them thinking I could get some nice max runes, so I bought 14 of them for 10k. When I ID'ed them 10 of the 14 came up with no rune, just a gold luxon garb worth an average of 250 gold. I thought that any unid'ed gold garbs were always runes. Can some one remove the rune from the garb and leave it unid'ed? I'm at work, but I have a screen shot saved of it at home. I did get credit for ID'ing towards the wisdom title. Is this an exploit by someone, or are there gold garbs with nothing attached to them? Any answers would be greatly appreciated

If you salvage a gold unid'd armor with a rune and the garb doesn't 'break' then the armor and rune are both unid'd yes. I don't really think it's an exploit, though a little cheap, since I often sell non max unid gold weapons for 1k to people getting title as well, which generally won't be worth that much. People are paying the money for the title, not the item generally.

I wasn't salvaging the item, I was Id'ing the item. I id'ed 10 Gold unid'ed luxon garbs with nothing inside, no rune, nothing. They havent been salvaged, I still have them in my inventory.

Now it's possible for a gold or purple to drop with no rune in them, i've had this happen. but not 10 in a row. It's not a scam per se (I mean hey, they were gold and unid'ed, no false advertising) but I agree with above, not really a nice thing to do. Just bump the guy to your ignore list and move on *shrug* EDIT: Now here's a thought, if you salvaged a unid'ed garb or somesuch... you'd get a unid'ed garb + unid'ed rune, correct? would id'ing a sup rune count towards the Wisdom title? I'll try with the next one I drop... Last edited by GreatLich; May 21, 2007 at 06:04 AM // 06:04.. |

They were listed as unidentified until I Identified them. Can you salvage a lot and it still be unidentified? That is my question. I got credit for Identifieing them, but there was nothing inside when I opened them. They went from being "Luxon Garb Unidentified" to being "Luxon Garb value 258 gold" with no rune. That's why I have a question about it.

As you know when you expert salvage an item which has mods on it there is a base chance that when you extract a mod from the item, the base item won't be destroyed by the salvage attempt. Thus it is possible to extract mods from items and still have the base items intact after extraction.
Salvaging an item does not ID it, you still need to use an ID kit on an un-id'ed item to actually ID it. If the "armor" drop is not destroyed, you'd be left with 2 un-id'ed items instead of 1. Thus it is possible to salvage an un-id'ed "armor" drop, get a un-id'ed rune/inscription and still have an un-id'ed "armor" drop that has no rune/inscription on it. As you know, when you salvage an armor drop that has mods on it, even after the mods are removed it will still pop up and ask if your sure - I'm not 100% sure, but I do believe this also happens with un-id'ed armor drops as well, thus the person doing the salvaging can be sure that they have gotten whatever mods are on the armor drop.

The guy above has explained it but you don't seem to have understood
YES you can salvage something without it being identified and yes that item will remain unidentified(if it passes the 50%- break test) And Just as a thing, every bot at the moment is doing the gold unidentified run and it always seems to be luxon garb - see the international districts for them. (Actually had to get a Sugar Jolt to escape a rather impoorly disguised and eager bot) |

Ok, I understand now. I had never heard of salvaging an item without ID'ing it. Thank you.

Sweet, that information is good to know.
Now, I'll salvage gold armor drops for a chance of adding 2 points to Wisdom instead of one! |

Dont try that with Nightfall armors because you may get an insignia as well as have the armor break on you. Then you don't have any gold items to identify for your trouble. :P
