Is this against the rules?
Not paying for a run because you didn't see that it cost you anything, or you just did't pay the person?

I wouldn't say it was against the rules, but it's really not very nice. It's not that hard to read a line of text all the way through to see the price before sending the invite. A lot of runners always check for monies before they leave because they've been scammed so many times in the past.

If the price was announced and you failed to read it (which I find very hard to believe) then it's your fault. As the runner, I would consider this a scam.

It's not really against the rules. Whether you pay a runner or not is essentially your choice. It's admittedly not a very nice thing to do, but if the runner was trusting enough to take you on your word there is nothing 'official' that can be done about it.

Running isn't even mentioned in "the rules".
Running is NOT a part of the game. I couldn't care less if Mr. Whammo runner comes on the forum complaining that runs have been nerfed or that his customers don't pay anymore..It's not a part of the game. So go ahead, ruin your own game by getting a run, and ruin the runner's game by not paying him. |

Whether you missed the part where a price was negotiated or not, the runner is doing you a favor and it's really bad manners to totally disregard that. At the very least try to come to an agreement with them. (Assuming you really did somehow manage to miss the part where the fee was discussed and were oblivious to the fact that you were asked to pay)

It's definitely good form to pay someone for a service rendered, whether they asked for it or not. If you missed the runner's offer, open your chat window and scroll back to see what he/she said there. If they said "for tips," then the amount is up to you, but it should be something to make it worth the runner's time.
Not paying someone probably won't get you banned, but it show people that you're a jerk. |

It's not against the rules, but very impolite.

It is People like you that make Runners Charge at some point along the way. A Price Was Most likely clearly stated yet you decided not to pay. Very Bad Conduct. If I was running I would have refunded all others who payed and then gone back to town and left you. Yes it is a runners life. Running is a service. If you don't want the service then just play the game normally and you will get to all the towns and outposts anyway just by playing the game. Running is mainly for people who already have finished the game with there main character but want to get to towns with a new character they have made without having to do all the quests and missions all over again. Mainly in Prophecies seeing as you can run anywhere in Tyria. |
