Never played GW. Which version to buy?
The title pretty much sums it up, I have never played guild wars and was wondering which version I should buy? I know that you can play factions without purchasing the original, but would it be better to play the original first? I am more of a PvE fan than a PvP fan, although I do enjoy the occasional PvP. Any ideas? Thanks!

When in doubt, always go with the original. Easier learning curve.

I'm not too worried about learning curve as I'was a GM of a 200+ member guild on WoW for over a year and was responsible for running raids, along with playing a ton of other MMORPG's. Thanks for your input though!

I also recommend getting Prophecies. The original has the special feeling. When you have "learned the game", get Nightfall for customizable Heroes. Factions can be kinda hard for first-timer.

Let me guess, you missed this sticky thread on top of the Q&A forum that reads:

Prophecies is still, IMO, the best value for your money. It's the largest and most popular of the three and has the most content.

Definitely Prophecies.
It seems to have some magic about it, some strange uniqueness. Sure, the other two chapters are nothing like you've seen in other games (fantastical locations, etc), but they're also increasingly complex due to added features. Coloneh is right, GW does require thought to excell, no spamming potions here! |
