Shield Requirement Mitigation
I'm dying to know this and I couldn't find this anywhere:
If you don't meet the requirement for a shield, how much armor do you lose from the shield? For example, if I had a Mo/W with an Exalted Aegis req 9 Tactics, and I had 3 points in Tactics, how much armor would I gain? And 0? I'm not sure how to test this, exactly, because the charts only go by increments of 10, and the shield armor increases by numbers that aren't increments of 10. But if someone could help me figure this out, it would be great. Thanks. |

If you don't meet the requirement for a shield you get 8 armor from the shield. The armor bonus doesn't scale with how much you invest in tactics, you either get 16 or 8.

If you do not meet the req of a shield you will get half of the total armor it provides, so in your case you get 8 armor.
I believe that a page on wiki says 40 armor is 50% less damage but i cant find the page to link it, ill keep looking. Edit : here we go : http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Armor_%28rating%29 So that would mean that your shield should give you a 10% damage reduction. Xenex, a max AL shield without meeting the requirement DOES provide 8 armor, but that does not equal 10% damage reduction. It is actually ~12.94%.
