What the hell is farming?
I do have prophecies, but i accessed it with my nightfall character and not very far in it at all. Also the link above does not work. Last edited by wise dragon smiter; Jul 15, 2007 at 10:40 PM // 22:40.. |

Farming = repeatedly killing some monsters for loot or other commodity, usually done alone to maximize profit.
But concerning the larger issue, in any multiplayer game there doesn't exist, and indeed cannot exist, an easy and reliable way to become rich fast. If one existed, everybody would use it to become 'rich' but that would only lead to massive inflation and thus nobody would be any better off. The best way to become rich in the game is to play it and be reasonably frugal. The money will accumulate along the way. |

as i only have 1 character who can do them all i made alittle over 28 plat and lots of gold items. including a shadow axe (near max mods) if you can level all your characters and get them to the realm of torment you can do treasure runs with all of them, which would make you ALOT of money and items, (help toward id title) ID all items before selling. i like to farm margonites in Realm of torment, you get nice drops and you can gain Lightbringer points to further help with farming. the LB titles give Bonus Dmg and Dmg Reduction when dealing with Margonites,Demons,Shadows in RoT. another idea is to Price Check your items and then post them in the sell section of this site. which i will be doing! i do not like trading, so the site offers a very easy way to find buyers/sellers. i too have a very hard time making money on GW. so i hope you have better luck than me. |

My best suggestion is learn the market, i have made a vast majority of my riches buying low and reselling for a profit. This website is my #1 source for price guides. With this info you can learn what sells for what, and if you see someone selling something you know players buy, and haggle the seller down, there is an unlimmited supply of gold to be made here. Also, Vanquishing areas on Hardmode can earn you some good loot, and bonus gold for clearing the area. Hope that helps |

Trading is the only real way to make money these days, even that has taken a huge hit though.
Trading takes time, patience, knowledge and more then a little luck. A good market to start in is Mini-pets, easy to get hold of and easy to sell. Start off small buy a few for 1-5k and then see if you can double your money by the end of the day. If you can doubled your money then you willl have more money to invest in the next 'tier' of mini-pets. Rinse and repeat until you have either made money or completely broke. Trading isn't the easy option though and requires more time and knowledge then any type of farming would. If trading sounds like you then visit Ventari's Corner to see what is happening in the trading world.

Malice`s idea is good... To get that first few platinum, you can go the long way and make money as you go through the storyline, since you get money after completing missions depending on how well you did it, or of course, ask a fellow guildie to lend you some money.

My advice would be to do the wurm queen mission in NF and join one of the lightbringer/sunspear farm teams. Here you farm in hard more in a group of around 6. You get better drops because of hard mode and have the protection of your wurm. In the same time you work on your titles. It's quite efficient.
It gives around 800g per run of 10-12 minutes. And this is just from gold you find and white/blue/purples you merch. With some luck you'll also find lockpicks, golds and tomes, which can sell for more when sold to players. |

Don`t forget that you have to finish the game first to access Hard Mode. It`s still do-able with 5 people, although its a little harder. Just don`t be the only one to charge in, go in with your group, and you should be safe.
I`m not sure of the current price, but there`s a chance of getting Alem`s Remedy since the boss is on the way to the temple(?) with Graven Monoliths. The staff is quite decent IMO, I use it on my Ritualist... |

Just starting the game with your first character, it takes time to accumulate wealth. I've been playing for over two years, and now have nine characters. I did some solo farming before it got totally nerfed, got lucky and made my fortune. I'm now going after skill hunter titles, which can be very expensive, but manage to keep my wealth up by just playing, picking up everything and selling junk to merchant. I also salvage drops that give decent crafting materials, wait till the price is up and unload them. One trick that not many people do ..... wait till you have a large amount of iron and glittering dust, buy needed charcoal (when price is low) and go craft some deodrimor steel. Sell it to rare materials crafter. You can make quite a bit doing this.

i feel your pain dude, yet its gotten harder to make fast money lately. the was a serious ecto stock market crash, ectos used to be worth 9k are now worth like 4.5. farming green bosses can be anoyying in the sense that after fighting for an hour to get to them, they may or may not be holding the green weapon there farming, if there holding it they may or may not drop it, and if they drop it theres a 1/5 chance its for you. not to mention that most greens are worth 1k in green pricelines. i think at this time to make money your best bet is making a character that runs people droks or maybe fow chest runs, golds i find are way easier to sell from my perspective (fow beeing accesible through temple of the ages)

ok here is the deal, you dont make money fast in this game. There isn't a good "short cut" to being rich. It takes practice and patience. period. You have to learn what class you like to play, browse forums and find Farming builds that work for others then practice them and modify them for your own playstyle. Then you have to invest time to get good at using your farm builds, then time for farming.
This game isn't about instant gradification, all the people here that are complaining about I can't do this or that anymore, need to see that ANet is trying to keep things fresh and new for us to keep interest. I make pretty good money now, 20-25 K a week + materials and Golds/greens, with about 10-15 hours put in. If I bother selling items I find I can get to 50-75K, but that takes too much time to do, and when I do I always sell below "market Value" to sell quickly. If you want your FoW armor in a day its not gonna happen, nor should it. Elite armor is (supposedly) for elite players not for instant gradification. If you just want it and don't want to earn it, take your risks on e-bay. If you want some sence of accomplishment, practice, be patient, and Farm. |

there are some farm spots that people use for getting gold, and some people use for trying to get rare and unique items. Go to the Farming forum and see what you would like to do from there.
and 25k in 15 hours is god awful no offense. there are spots where u can make 15k no problem in 1-2hours |

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but for the past week you could farm for victory tokens from the Shing Jea monestary quests. It takes 20 minutes to do the first 3 quests and nets 150 victory tokens (the 4th quest can't be done with a new character without from someone else). Each token is worth at least 20g, or you could sell them to other players for more. So that's 9k/hour. I think the quests are still active now.

But have you tried the monthly chest-reward system? Search for mystical treasure chests, Do-Not-Touch chests, etc... They spoil you with both gold and a high quality drops and if you're lucky, this drop might be worth a bit too. Even better: this system resets every 30/31 days, so you can go hunt for them again So, basically, if you have 2 NF characters that mostly made through the game, you could get about ~15-20K/character equalling 30-40K/month! Now isn't that a LAZY way to earn fast money? (-: |
