several profession questions
sorry about the noobishness, but I'm afraid it's necessary.
First of all, are the professions introduced in Factions available if you only get Nightfall, or are you only presented with the six originals and the ones introduced in Nightfall? Second, (and this will seem utterly insignificant) but what are the actual, concrete differences between ranger/ele and ele/ranger, and which order do you suggest and why? Third, I've heard that the Nightfall community is infuriatingly dimwitted for the most part, in that towns have become glorified chatrooms. Is it especially true, or are there just the usual collection of people here and there? Thanks |

oh and also, can you link an account if it was made on one of the follow up chapters to one before it, and assuming you are say, an asassin in Factions, can you then buy Prophecies and play that as an asassin, or do you have to work up from Prophecies?

1. To be able to play as an Assassin or Ritualist you need Factions.
2. Ranger primary has Expertise which reduces the energy cost for some skills, Elementalists have Energy Storage which gives you a lot of energy. There are a lot of other differences. In general, Rangers are versatile in respect to martial weapons and variety of skills. Elementalists mainly due huge damage but are quite versatile casters because of Energy Storage. 3. Internet communities everywhere are extraordinarily dimwitted in general. 4. Yes, you can link your campaigns together, and your characters can access any of those campaigns. |

1: you can only make assassin and ritualist characters in factions.
2: its all in the primary attribute and skills in that attribute. but it if you were to go ranger/ele dont expect to use some of the higher energy spells like meteor shower or pretty much any thing from the water line. 3: almost the entire game(all three campaignes) is full of dimwitted people. occasionally you'll find some smart groups that actually know how to play, but for the most part, from my experence, not that many intelligent conversations going on. |

1) only the 6 core and 2 that come with the chapter.
2) Primary attributes, runes, armors, insignias... General utility... Primary attributes are available to only primary profession.. Runes: You can only use Ranger runes if you're a ranger, vice-versa.. Armor: Armors look different for different Primaries.. [wiki]Ranger armor[/wiki] [wiki]Elementalist armor[/wiki] Insignias: Same with the runes, you can only use Ranger insignias on Rangers (Beastmasters, Pyrebound) vice-versa... Utility: Rangers use bows, and apply conditions or interrupt or deal damage (they're versatile). Elementalist are usually Nukers, and have one job.. Yet it is vital to a balanced grp.. To Nuke.. I'd Go R/E simply because I share an affinity with Ranger classes... 3) this is true of all games, Welcome to the World of MMORPGs, and general humanity... 4) Yeah, you can link. But you have to Quest to the Prophecies continent (tyria). Last edited by I Might Avenge U; Aug 07, 2007 at 04:24 AM // 04:24.. |

Elementalists have the Energy Storage primary attribute available only to the elementalist. This increases energy and they also have +4 energy regen.
Rangers have the Expertise primary attribute available which lowers the cost of skills, not spells. They only have +3 regen and 25 energy. Another difference is armour. Rangers have a higher armour standard, especially against elemental damage. You can link any Guild Wars game you own to your account, previous or new. Owning Factions allows you to use the Assassin and Ritualist, while owning Nightfall allows you to use the Dervish and Paragon. These are stand alone games. As long as you own the game, you can use their classes. As for Nightfall, it's pretty much the same as the other two campaigns in regards of player stupidity. It just depends who you run into, rather than the game itself. |

As the question had been answered in full I was merely being flippant as was Snow Bunny( I think!) who still managed to answer the question as well
