Is there a way of knowing if someone got banned?

Add someone to your friend list.
If you never see them online then they've probably been banned.

Because I was wondering if some of my friends just left the game or got ban..

Ask him, further there is no way of telling if someone got banned. NCSoft does not share info on the suspension of accounts about people that you have reported or have been reported.

banned account are instantly deleted ?

No, game accounts are never deleted, not even on a perma-ban.

Of course they couldn't be deleted.

Just look at all the people who were accidentally perma-banned. They got their accounts back.
