Question about armor
Hey,
I just returned to play after taking like a 2 year break. Anyway before that my Mesmer had gotten the Elite Rogue Armor, I think from Marhan's Grotto (not sure though) the armor is called "Stalwart Elite Rogue Armor" and has bonuses that reduce physical damage. Now I want to change to an Armor that gives more Energy. I remember the Enchater's armor had good energy bonuses, but when I went to Marhans Grotto now, I saw all the 15K armors had no bonus at all??? just the basic +1 energy recovery? What is up with that? So where would I find Elite enchanter armor or the best armor for a mesmer that gives energy bonuses? Did they move to somewhere else? I have Prophecies, Nightfall and Eye of the North though am looking for armor in the prophecies area since havent gotten far in the expansions. Thanks |

All armors have been changed to accept Insignia, you can find them at the Rune traders.

Just a quick note, the insignia that provides energy is called "Radiant" and is common to all profession armor.

Thanks, so does that mean any armor can be given any bonuses? So for example can I have the Rogue Armor give me energy bonuses while the enchater armor giving phys dmg reduction bonus?
Also are there any new cool armors for mesmers? Thanks |

Yes, in Prophesies, different types of armor were tied to specific styles of armor - if you wanted X type of protection/enhancement, you were stuck with the 1 or 2 styles which provided that whether you liked the look or not.
When Factions came around, they decided in response to players' pleadings to make all types available in all styles, so you could get the type you wanted in the style you found most pleasing. Of course, this meant that each armor crafter was selling 6-10 cuirasses, 6-10 gloves, 6-10 leggings, 6-10 boots and umpteen headpieces. A welcome change but a little unwieldly to scroll through all those pieces, being very careful you clicked the right one to purchase. With Factions, they simplified this immensely, making the type protection/enhancement modifiers Insignias that are applied to armor the same way Runes are. This means that most armor crafters can now sell just a few different headpieces and 1 each of cuirasses, gloves, leggings and boots (there's a few places with single armor crafters that sell multiple styles). PS - No, I don't believe they added any new armor styles to Prophesies. However, since you have NF, when you get to Kamadan (the town Proph chars arrive at), look for people offerring "ferry" service to Consulate Docks (costs 400-500 gold), there's an armor guy there selling standard max armor.
