Good Developer But Mediocre Publisher
I really like ArenaNet, but my experience with Guild Wars support has left me completely abandoning my account to someone else. NCSupport failed to grant any of my requests to help resolve the issue, and most of what I had replied required repeating myself due to their unwillingness to read my previous postings. The requests were simple: delete my account and give me a new one or transfer my existing keys to a new one. They were unable to do this for some reason. That's what I call a lack of server control. So, I simply gave up.
As for my account; well, most of the time it fails to log in. I also get errors such as Trial expiration (even though I now have the actual game), other client using my account (even though my password and email have been changed several times without result), and finally the most annoying part is that when I log in and out of the game, my character would sometimes go missing. I'd have to log in and out repeatedly until he comes back. I never learned that doing this would help since before I would just create a new character and start from scratch. Either way, it's extremely bothersome to go through this each time it happens. I love ArenaNet though I didn't realize it wasn't them who was botching the support help. It was the other guy. Too bad, I really love the game and although General British bashes it for not being "real time", I found it to be more enjoyable and control friendly over his Tabula Rasa. The only way I'll return to playing Guild Wars is if I create a new account, which means having to buy the games over again. My last account has issues and I pitty the guy who is using it now. Hopefully he'll just take what he wants from it and leave it for dead. Thanks ArenaNet! Blech to the other guy! Last edited by Snaptrap; Oct 02, 2007 at 08:26 PM // 20:26.. |

Have you tried to get help from these forums too? I never bother with any "Official help" when there's an active community. The community may have eased a bit of that pain for you.
Too bad. |

Support in general should have limited power over the game, to prevent corruption and power abuse. I don't think it is worth pursuing any of those requests you mentioned, you should just focus on getting them to give you a solution to the root problem(s).

They exhausted all their possible solutions and so I gave my own in a last ditch attempt to clear up the issue. I wanted ArenaNet to address so I can avoid dealings with NCSoft. They likely have abilities that NC Soft does not since it's their servers the GW games are on which is why the game is free to play.
ArenaNet should have somone like Focus Entertainment publish their next batch of games. I found them to be extremely helpful as they don't ignore people with issues they are too lazy to address. I find a lot of support teams will just ignore problems that require too much work to solve. What do they care anyway since they person already bought the game? "Yeah, that problem looks like too much work so just avoid responding to the person." "But won't they become hostile if we ignore them?" "Then we'll have a reason for what we did now won't we?" "Damn, you're so smart sir. This will save us a lot of time and money!" "They didn't make me a GM for nothing. Hmmmmph!" |
