that may be a bit of an over-estimation. Those numbers are units sold - not individual accounts. I would say the number's about 1 million, and probably less.

But it's common knowledge a fair portion of the sold accounts are bots or belong to people with 'x' amount of accounts. |

Until they decide to tell us what the average number of players are on line at different times, or the number of accounts that have activity over a specific time frame we won't really know.

true, we'll never know the actual number of real players. but we can still make some educated guesses.
1) 3.5 million units mean that the upper-limit of accounts is 3.5 million 2) most accounts have more than 1 campaign, so the lower limit of the number of accounts is about 1.17 million (assuming the 3.5 million given is pre-gw:en and that each account has 3 campaigns) those are the only real numbers we can generate. as for active players, that may be a little harder. |

lets say 70% still plays the game now and then then we get about 800.000 people. Still it is a ques but we get close i think.

They stated before GW:EN came out 4 million copies sold, so forget that 3.5 million number. If everyone had all three chapters at the time of that announcement there would be 1.33 million accounts, and worst case scenario that 50% are still active, that is 665,000 active players. Since we know that not all accounts have all three chapters that number is at the low end.

your also forgetting several times they have anounced the banning of 5000 bots there bouts. and their r still tons of bots out there. and based on the level of activity i have sen i would place the total active accounts less than 100000 and for my math....
4000000- too many bots- wow- other mmorpgs-halo3 release-boredom= less than 100000 lol |

What the hell has some crappy console fps release (halo3) got to do with the number of people playing GW.
I'm sure there are well over 100k people still playing GW. I think its a lot closer to 500k than 100k. The number playing at anyone time depends a lot on the time of day/day of the week/time of year and many other things. Sorry but where are all these bots your talking about I've been playing GW since day 1 and have yet to see ONE let alone 000's. |

I have contributed a little too much to the units sold figure. 8 'units' bought prior to GWEN. My guess is the 2-500k range as well.
