Help matching character faces?
I'm having a hard time creating a character to match this one in the next couple of pictures:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/2/2...ar_armor_f.jpg http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/5/5...an_armor_f.jpg I'm pretty sure it's a Prophecies character; of the twelve Elementalist faces, I'm guessing Row 2, Column 2, but I can't get a skin tone, hair style, or hair color to match. Can anyone give me insight on this? I know it is ridiculous, but this thing has been bugging me for some time and I just can't put out the itch. Thanks you everyone for your time. |

I could swear that Elementalist looks Elonian, I'm probably wrong, but you should really try the Elonian Elementalist faces, tones, and hairs.

Would be nice if I had Nightfall... Because of that, and no offense, but I hope you're wrong. Thanks for the quick input though. Very much appreciated.

Some of the combinations in the armor renders can't be recreated ingame. It's just how Emily Diehl's (the person who made the images) renderer presented the models. A number of people speculated it was a sign that a hairstylist-type NPC was in the works. But that'll probably never be added in GW1's remaining lifetime, so the armor previews are just teasers of something that could've been.

So this renderer is not open to the public nor does it allow what is rendered to be put in the game. That's disappointing. However, when you mention "combinations" and "hairstylist", are you mentioning purely the hair style or everything? Because hair aside, if the face and skin tone options are already available in game, I would like to know about them.

The face is definitely Tyrian, I think it's my old elementalist's face actually...

Yup, definitely Tyrian, I know those faces inside out - it took me long enough to decide what to choose for my Tyrian ele . Unfortunately I don't have a free slot so I can't roll one and tell you what row or column.
I'm pretty sure that hairstyle doesn't exist ingame though. |

That's exactly what I've been thinking. The face is Tyrian (in-game as opposed to rendered), but the hairstyle and possibly color does not exist in-game. It's the skin tone that has me a little confused, since I can't find it. I'm sure it has something to do with different lighting that would throw everything off. But it sure would be nice to have some positive confirmation, since I keep on doubting myself over and over.

Hairstyle is from Factions (the last hairstyle on the top row), although you can't get that same shade of hair there. Face is probably from Prophecies, looks very much like it and there isn't a face like that in Factions. Skintone looks like it's from Proph too.

So does this renderer just take in-game faces/hair styles/skin tones from all three campaigns and mix match them together, something we cannot do in-game ourselves? In which case is it safe to presume that this renderer does not actually create anything new other than different unattainable combinations?
I'll probably be sticking with second row, second column face and first row, first column skin tone, seeing as to how those appear to be the closest. But I'll try to wait until I get some confirmation from Emily Diehl. Hopefully my selection is the right one. Any further comments and observations are more than appreciated. Thank you again for your time. Last edited by PegasusHoplite28; Oct 13, 2007 at 06:48 AM // 06:48.. |

This "renderer" is the program the models were actually built in, so you can do anything you like with it, as a character modeler. Doesn't have anything to do with players, though. ^_^
Go ahead and make your character so that it makes you happy. No offense, but you're never going to get any confirmation on this subject from the artists. They're kinda busy. |
