Teleport breaks party
Totally new to the game.
A friend and I are running around Pre-Searing Ascalon doing various primary and secondary quests. When we hit M for the map and double-click a destination to teleport to, we always get a "this will break up your party" message. Is it not possible to teleport as a party? What are we doing wrong? --angry |

Have both you already been to the towns you're trying to go to?

If you are not in an outpost you cannot teleport together. You must be in an outpost.
And, as GD eluded to, you both have to have the town you are trying to port to. |

you both have to teleport separately. this is to prevent a person from teleporting a party during a mission and won't be fixed

As people have said before, you have to be in a town. However, you also have to be the leader (first person) in the party to be able to move both of you successfully to another town.

While outside of towns, you both can write /resign to give up, which kills off your party and gives the party leader an option to return to the outpost you folks left from.
That way you can stay as a party and then the leader can use map travel in a town to move, while keeping the party intact. |

Also, note that using /resign won't add to your death count if you inted to go to the survivor title. Also to make a long story short, to map-travel as a group, the leader of the group has to map-travel from a town or outpost to a town that everyone in the party already has visited at least once.
As said previously, it is to prevent people teleporting a group that is in the middle of a quest/mission |

Thanks for all the fast replies, everyone. I see some conflicting info here, but allow me to address a few of the stipulations you've raised.
1. Yes, we both definitely have teleport access to the desired destination. 2. We've had both the party leader and follower attempt to initiate the teleport. Both fail. (party is only size 2 at this point) We have no problem getting through the portals (the things connecting two adjacent game areas) together. Only the map-based teleport breaks the party. Is what martialis said true? If it is, that pretty much answers my question. --angry |

let's make it clear: you can only teleporte from town to town, the teleport may be operated by the party leader only, and at condition all persons u wan teleport have bot hdestinations accesible.
YOU CAN NOT TELEPORTE FROM EXPLORABLE AREA TO City and TELEPORTE FROM CITY TO EXPLORABLE AREA for this two u need walk via normal portals.... |

Imagine if you could teleport the whole party back to a town... griefers and quitters would do this, just before the end of a quest/mission.
As above, it's not a problem: everyone in the party types /resign then you can return to town as a party, and teleport to another town from there. |

Thanks again.
Water Angel provided the one key piece of information which I'm sure was the case: We were definitely trying to teleport from an explorable area. Being new to the game, I thought the entire Pre-Searing Ascalon area was a "town". Now I know an "explorable area" is not the same thing. Thanks, everyone! --angry |
