Armor and Weapons, How to get them
Hi, I am new to the game, well I have been playing for about 2 months and I would like to know how you get the better armor and where. What should I be looking for when upgrading my armor.
Weapons, what am I looking for as far as good weapons, or wands. I have both a warrior and an elementist. I just don't know how or where to look or even what I am looking for. Any tips would be helpful and appreciated. Thank you in advance, Spirit Mother |

Most towns have npc's who can craft you a weapon cheaply, which will do the job as good as any fancy weapon, albeit at the cost of aesthetics. The same goes with armour, there are elite sets which look nice, but function the same as max 1k sets. Start off with the weapons and armour available in major towns, and as you save up gold, invest in nicer items. As mentioned above, wiki is the best source of information for all the Guild Wars games.

Welcome to guild wars.
Since you are new, i assume you don't have much gold in pocket. So, i suggest you go with basic ( or cheaper collector) armor + green weapons. |

I wouldn't suggest you use weapon crafters. For the max stat crafters, they charge you materials + 5k. You can get decent greens for 5k or less if you're patient, and they have max stats and max mods you just don't get with crafters. You can also get max golds cheap as well, though they may have slightly off-perfect mods. Anyway, I suggest you stick to collector weaps and stuff you find till you get the money to buy the greens you want. And for an ele, you could also run fine with max collector gear. The collector wands and offhands can have the same stats as most of the greens available. For a warrior you'd probably want a green since most +30hp mods would probably cost you more than the cost of a green weapon + green shield. And if you want to use a hammer, you can get a max one of pretty much all mods for 1-5k.
As for armour, well, try not to upgrade to often. Use collector armour if you can, till you can get the max armour crafters (droks, kaineng, consulate docks). Buy a max set and mod it up however you like. Most of the basic max armour is pretty cheap, around 1k and materials per piece. Still, if you're new, you'll probably have to buy all you materials which my push the cost quite a bit higher depending on the armour. As for needing upgrades, a warrior will need more up to date armour than an ele. As an ele, you can skulk around the back and avoid most attacks. Run away if attacked. So armour isn't as critical. A warrior with bad armour however, will probably find himself getting resed a lot. So check up wiki for the monster drops you need for the armour pieces and save yourself a lot of cash. Oh, and welcome to guildwars. |

First of all, this should probably go in the "Questions and Answers" forum :P
Second, welcome to GW! Enjoy your time in game! Third, here are a few key points in knowing what to look for, for gear for your characters, and as a new player, most of what you will get are either drops, or items from collectors. <--- (click for a list of collectors) Warrior weapons: - Max damage items Quote:
- Prefix and Suffix upgrades - Weapon Requirement; only much of an issue if your a low level character that cannot meet a requirement. Caster Weapons: - Caster weapons are much more applicable to your tastes, and as such can usually be modded. - Like warriors, and other physical attacking classes, caster weapons also have upgrade options. - Modifiers range from chance of faster casting, to chance of faster recharge of spells, to an addition to your energy total, an addition to your health total, +% of enchantments, and many others, all found on Guildwiki too! - Max damage for caster weapons is not nearly as important since it will not be your main source of damage. Well, i hope taht helps clear up a few things, unless you already figured that all out, GL! and HF! ' cheers |

Weapons will be changed often as your skills get better.
Armor will reach a maximum protection 60 for spell casters 80 for warriors etc. I found it best at the beginning to get the collectors armour till max protection can be bought. Money is always tight at the start and buying some armour then in the next town finding it much better is very annoying. Welcome to GW have fun |
